The Fallen One

Fallen Ones are those who have gone through the torment of death and have managed to scramble
their way back to the realm of the living. They are the adventurers who valiantly fought but died before
their mission could be accomplished. Revived by magical or other means, a Fallen One is forever scarred
by their experience and fight with nothing to lose, already having tasted defeat.

A Fallen One is often deeply troubled and when danger is near they are likely to unleash this pent up
energy relentlessly against their foes. Fallen Ones often target the strongest foe, no matter the danger,
as they no longer fear death and will forever long for the serenity that can only be granted in the heat of
battle.

Violent, reckless and dangerous, Fallen Ones are not often benevolent but those who are often struggle
with their past and the uncertainty of their future.

Skill Proficiencies:

Intimidation, Arcane

Tool Proficiency:

Poisoner’s Kit

Equipment:

Explorer’s Pack, a healer’s kit, normal clothes, a hidden dagger, a symbol representing the
character’s old life, and a token taken from the nether realm the character stayed in while dead

Abyssal

Features:

Desperation Attack: when in battle, the Fallen One is always ready to his or her life a second
time around just to deal more damage and to raise their own battle awareness. While this
makes it harder to hit a Fallen One, they become more fragile.

This feat, unlocked upon resurrection, makes the Fallen One raise their AC by choosing the
ability modifier of their highest stat but also forces them to reduce their max HP by the same
factor multiplied by 2.
Suggested Characteristics:

Fallen Ones have already experienced dying and are usually the ones who rush headstrong into
battle. They can often be irrational due to their lust for the danger of combat. When given the
option of either diplomacy or combat they are more inclined to choose the latter. When they do
get to do the talking, they often fall under the case of threatening instead of forming alliances,
making them poor choices when deception is required.

Fallen Ones aren’t just blood-thirsty barbarians however; they are also more aware of the
arcane and use this knowledge to their advantage.

Personality Traits (d8):

1. I have lost my grip on reality and at times I lose my mind completely, learning only of my
actions when my allies tell me of the chaos I have done.
2. Stoic, I feel a gaping emptiness within me ever since I was brought back to life.
3. The world is fragile and all life is precious. I now value life more so than ever before.
4. Death and danger is nothing to me; I continue to be a risk breaker whenever possible to
keep the adrenaline rush coming.
5. I am always right. I died, I came back, and now I believe to be the wisest of the wisest thanks
to the trials of my experience in the afterlife.
6. I am a shadow of a person; void and empty of personality. Whatever color there was in my
life prior to death has faded into the tears of time.
7. Never shall I allow another ally to go through death the way I did. As long as there is a way
to save someone I will do all I can to ensure that they survive.
8. I seek death’s embrace again, forever hunting a foe strong enough to grant me the death I
was denied the first time around.

Ideals (d6):

1. Vengeance – I may never be able to slay the foe that took my life before but I will bestow
my right of vengeance upon all other foes that cross my path.
2. Vigilance – I use my skills and power to protect those and ensure they do not suffer as I
have.
3. Freedom – I want to break free from this world and its trivial, meaningless ways to live a life
of peace.
4. Power – Death has scarred me and now I seek the power to ensure I never die again.
5. Honor – I aim to honor the promises I made in my past life.
6. Aspiration – I have lost all hope but I dream of one day finding a new purpose in this new
life bestowed upon me.
Bonds (d6):

1. I will everything to feel the taste of death yet again.

2. With all my power I will save my allies from the clutches of death.
3. Everything I do is designed to help me gain vengeance against those who killed me.
4. I still have connections – friends, family – from my previous life and I will do everything I can
in order to make them as powerful as I myself aim to be.
5. I am trying to re-discover myself and avoid becoming the soulless void that death forces me
to be.
6. Death is now my ally and I will always choose to kill instead of sparing a foe’s life.

Flaw (d6):

1. I fail to see the use of a potion and will continue to try fighting even when death is knocking
at my door.
2. Plan? What plan?
3. Gambling my life isn’t the only issue – gambling with money has become a bad habit.
4. I often let go of tactics and choose to fight the strongest foe, ignoring how useful it would be
to target the others first.
5. I have lost all ties to material possessions and this, to the misfortune of my allies, includes
money, magical items and other items that normally would bear strong sentimental value.
6. Lying is now a habit no matter how bad I am at it.
