PANAY RIVER BASIN INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT PROJECT
National Irrigation Administration- Region Office VI EIS Summary for the Public
Reference source not
found..

Figure 1-2: Direct and Indirect Impact Areas

Regional Offices of the concerned departments/agencies (PENRO, DA, BFAR, DAR, NHA,
DILG, and NCIP)

PANAY RIVER BASIN INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT PROJECT
National Irrigation Administration- Region Office VI EIS Summary for the Public
Dust, Vehicle Emission Regular sprinkling of water along the access road during dry season,
compliance to speed limits should be imposed.
Oil spill from bulk storage of Ensure appropriate storage and management Possible minimal spill even with appropriate storage and
oil and fuel management
Displacement of houses Implementation of mutually acceptable compensation scheme Displacement of houses is unavoidable considering the
nature of the proposed project.
Implementation of an IEC program
Noise Select plant and equipment, design work practices, and limit hours of
operation to minimize potential impacts as far as practicable.
Water quality Stockpiles of potential water pollutants (i.e. oils, construction materials,
rubbish, fuel, etc.) shall be located so as to minimize the potential of
contaminants to enter local watercourses or storm-water drainage.
Storm-water runoff from all fuel and oil storage areas and workshops is to be

PANAY RIVER BASIN INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT PROJECT
National Irrigation Administration- Region Office VI EIS Summary for the Public
All construction fill and material storage areas shall have diversion drains
installed above the work areas to intercept storm runoff. These areas will
have dust, erosion, and sediment control measures in place.
Alteration of riparian Engineering measures to be implemented so as to minimize Considering the nature of the project, damage is
vegetation damage to riverbank vegetation inevitable; rehabilitation after construction
should be done
Local aquatic species Engineering measures to minimize siltation and direct Considering the nature of the project, damage is
extinction disturbances inevitable especially in the portion of the river
where construction work will be done – on the
dam site, on the lateral and augmentory canals;
rehabilitation after construction should be done
Decrease biodiversity Engineering measures to minimize siltation and direct Considering the nature of the project, these
and productivity disturbances impacts are inevitable especially in the
downstream of the construction work;
rehabilitation after construction should be done
Operation Siltation resulting in reduced Conduct of siltation study; watershed management plan; sediment discharge
