Using a strand of C1 or C2 (your choice), wrap yarn around 2½" piece of cardboard 150 times (aprroxi-

mately 25 yds). Slip wound yarn off cardboard, holding center of bunch tightly. Cut yarns from skeins but
11 do not cut loops yet. Using a separate piece of sturdy scrap yarn cut a piece about 8" long and wrap it a
few times around the center of the bunch, then securely knot.Wrap yarn around the center wrap a few
9 more times, pull center wrap really tight, and tie another knot. Holding pom pom by both ends of the
7 short wrapped yarn, use sharp pointed scissors to cut the loops on either side of the center wrap.Trim the
cut strands to form a ball. Using yarn needle and leftover long tail of yarn, sew pom pom to the top of the
5 hat.Weave in ends of long tail on inside of hat. Sample shown has a pom pom about 2½” in diameter.
