4 Heat Reclamation
The performance of any heat recovery system depends upon the following
factors: temperature difference between the heat source and heat sink; latent
heat difference (where applicable) between the heat source and sink; mass
flow multiplied by specific heat of each source and sink; efficiency of the
heat-transfer device; extra energy input required to operate the heat recovery
device; fan or pump energy absorbed as heat by the heat transfer device; and
service capability of the maintenance staff, which can enhance or detract
from the performance.
The A/E shall determine the life cycle cost for the following heat reclamation
systems to determine their applicability. Consideration shall be given to the
functional space requirements of the system and components.
