How did facebook affect affect or change the way we


communicate with other people?
Facebook changed the way we communicate with other people. Back when
there were no social network sites such as Facebook, people used to communicate
mostly with people from nearby places through speaking and using old cell phones
and telephones. People back then can only communicate with people from faraway
places by sending letters and telegrams. Nowadays, Facebook becomes an
important and primary tool/medium of information and communication in our
lives. We often use Facebook to communicate with our loved ones from nearby
and faraway places quickly and easily though posting and chatting, but we must be
careful in what post or chat we type on Facebook. We also use Facebook to
discover, gather, and share information. It became a powerful communication tool
with social networks being one of the easiest way we communicate. People’s
obsession with social media changed how the world communicates. One of the
most popular social networking website that some people can’t live without and
won’t waste any minute not to post a status is Facebook.
In the other way around Facebook has improved communications for users. One is
mass invites, invitations to any events or parties can be sent out to all or some of a
user’s friends at once without having to mail them out. Another is constant access;
friends can see what others are doing and where they are to join them. And because
status changes are updated immediately, friends are in almost constant contact with
each other. And lastly is finding old friends, the Facebook’s Friend Finder
makes it easy to reconnect with former friends from high school, college or
past jobs. When new friends are added, the site suggests others a user might know.
It also uses profile information to propose other connections.

6. How did facebook affect the quantity and quality of information


available to people? It is good thing or bad thing?

There’s a good and bad effect of Facebook in the quality and quantity of information. First is the

bad quality, Nowadays the information that we get in Facebook are not that reliable compare in the past.

It’s more easier now to give and disseminate information that are not correct and not trust worthy. The

good quality is that in school we are now studying to analyze and verify every information that we get in

Effective communication can usually be achieved by sticking to a few important
guidelines:

1. Establish and maintain eye contact. Eye contact plays a crucial role in communication

5. Listening. Being a good listener is one of the best ways to be a good communicator.

4. How do you use facebook as a tool or medium of


communication?
Initially, Facebook was designed to let people share their
profile with other people. It was a form of self expression. But lately,
because of its popularity, Facebook was also used as a medium for
communication. People can share their stories on their
timeline and interact with others through comments and likes.
1. Why is communication is a process?
- Communication is a series of actions between people—and between
animals—that transfers information or meaning from one to the other. In a
broad sense every series of related actions is a process and thus,
communication can be considered a process. In a narrower sense, the one
that says a process is a set of predetermined actions in a predetermined
order that achieves a predetermined goal, then only some communication
experiences fit the definition. For example, many conversations do not
begin with an intended outcome and seldom follow a specified order of
events—the sender can send several messages before the receiver gets a
chance to get a word in edgewise. Thus, there has been debate on whether
communication is or is not a true process. In the second half of the 20th
century, it became popular and clarifying to look at the act(s) of
communication as a process, using process paradigms for describing what
was happening.
2. What are the important elements of communication?

1. SENDER/ENCODER
the sender also known as the encoder decides on the message to be sent, the best/most
effective way that it can be sent. All of this is done bearing the receiver in mind. In a word, it
is his/her job to conceptualize.
The sender may want to ask him/herself questions like: What words will I use? Do I need
signs or pictures?

2. MEDIUM
the medium is the immediate form which a message takes. For example, a message may be
communicated in the form of a letter, in the form of an email or face to face in the form of a
speech.

3. CHANNEL
The channel is that which is responsible for the delivery of the chosen message form. For
example post office, internet, and radio.

4. RECEIVER
The receiver or the decoder is responsible for extracting/decoding meaning from the
message. The receiver is also responsible for providing feedback to the sender. In a word, it
is his/her job to INTERPRET.

5. FEEDBACK
this is important as it determines whether or not the decoder grasped the intended meaning
and whether communication was successful.

6. CONTEXT
Communication does not take place in a vacuum. The context of any communication act is
the environment surrounding it. This includes, among other things, place, time, event, and
attitudes of sender and receiver.

7. NOISE (also called interference)


This is any factor that inhibits the conveyance of a message. That is, anything that gets in
the way of the message being accurately received, interpreted and responded to. Noise may
be internal or external. A student worrying about an incomplete assignment may not be
attentive in class (internal noise) or the sounds of heavy rain on a galvanized roof may
inhibit the reading of a storybook to second graders (external noise).
The communication process is dynamic, continuous, irreversible, and contextual. It is not
possible to participate in any element of the process without acknowledging the existence
and functioning of the other elements.
