Prayer in the Way of Taize

Meditative Music (3-5 minutes)

Song(s):
I. Holy Spirit Come to us
Holy Spirit come to us, kindle in us the fire of your love.
Holy Spirit come to us; Holy Spirit come to us .

II. Laudate Dominum

Sing praise and bless the Lord.
Sing praise and bless the Lord!
Peoples, nations, alleluia!

Alleluia-Psalm: (from Psalm 149)

I love you, Lord, my strength,

my rock, my fortress, my savior.
God, you are the rock where I take refuge;
my shield, my mighty help, my stronghold.
R: Alleluia

Lord, you are worthy of all praise,

when I call I am saved from my foes.
The snares of the grave entangled me;
the traps of death confronted me.
R: Alleluia

In my anguish I called to you, Lord;

I cried to you, God, for help.
From your temple you heard my voice;
my cry came to your ears.
R: Alleluia

They assailed me in the day of my misfortune,

but you, Lord, were my support.
You brought me forth into freedom,
you saved me because you loved me.
R: Alleluia
Biblical Reading:

John 20,24-29

Thomas (who was called the Twin), one of the twelve, was not with them when
Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said
to them, “Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands, and put my finger in the
mark of the nails and my hand in his side, I will not believe.” A week later his
disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. Although the
doors were shut, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with
you.” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and see my hands. Reach out
your hand and put it in my side. Do not doubt but believe.” Thomas answered
him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you
have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to
believe.”

Song(s):

Lord Jesus Christ

Lord Jesus Christ, your light shines within us.
Let not my doubts nor my darkness speak to me.
Lord Jesus Christ, your light shines within us.
Let my heart always welcome your love.

Silence (5-7 minutes)

Intercessions

O Risen Christ, your heart exults and your soul rejoices:

comfort all who are living in sorrow.

Risen Lord, you come to transfigure our being:

kindle in us the fire of your love.

Risen Lord, in you our resurrection has already begun on this earth:
kindle in us the fire of your love.

Risen Lord, you come to fill our hearts with peace:

kindle in us the fire of your love.

Risen Lord, your Spirit burns away sadness in us:

kindle in us the fire of your love.

Risen Lord, you come to gather us in your Body, the Church:

kindle in us the fire of your love.

Our Father
Concluding Prayer:

Risen Christ, when we have the simple desire to welcome your love, little by little
a flame is kindled in the depths of our being. Fueled by the Holy Spirit, this flame
of love may be quite faint at first. The amazing thing is that it keeps on burning.
And when we realize that you love us, the trust of faith becomes our own song.
