I. INTRODUCTION

On-the-job training is a method of preparation of every individual to experience, to

know, and to acquire necessary knowledge of a certain job before going into a real

working environment. It focuses on the acquisition of skills with a combination of

knowledge. College students undergo On-the-Job Training because it is the most

convenient way to understand all the requirements needed for future job. OJT also helps

every individual to develop their intellectual, social interaction, physical, and emotional

ability. Students were trained to be punctual and pleasant at all times. Working

environment plays a role on every student's development so it is necessary that workplace

as well as the people working there are in good shape.

The trainee as an engineering student, On-the-Job Training is one of the ways to

practice the skills and have the opportunity to apply the theories and computations that

the trainee have learned from the universities. On-the-Job training helps the trainee to

perform in actual work setting and obtain applicable knowledge and skills. Within a

specific number of hours, the trainee shall undergo in the mandatory requirement given

by the colleges and universities as a part of the curriculum.

OJT makes all the difference. OJT make every theory realistic by performing such

application. It replenishes the student's knowledge about theories. This program provides

opportunities to go through the actual methodologies of a specific job or field that you are

going to choose. But the most important thing, OJT taught the interns about the essence

of having a good attitude. In this kind of training, attitude and characteristics comes first

than being academically educated. Universities and OJT will teach every student to be

3
academically prepared, technically skilled individuals who are also socially and morally

upright.

20
C. Learning/Work Habit Developed

On-the-Job Training gives the trainee necessary knowledge on what’s happening into the

real working environment. Through this training, the trainee may develop their skills and

understand all the requirements needed for future job.

In the trainee’s seven weeks stay there, each day is a learning experience. The trainee

learned many things that helped his skills to be more developed and molded his characteristics.

As an intern at Ampleon, the trainee learned to become attentive and productive. The trainee

learned to become responsible and be a hardworking person. The trainee developed his skills on

using MS Offices and learned to use the primary application that Ampleon uses in the production.

The trainee learned to use microscope and learned how to operate the machines in the production

area. The assigned task to the trainee which is to finish it in the given time is important, but doing

it correctly is much important. As what the trainee’s Senior Engineer said "You don't have to rush

yourself, you should trust the process". That term makes an impact on what is inside on the

trainee’s mind. The trainee learned to be more patient and learned to accept that all things should

be done beyond the process that he don't need to rush everything because of the time. The trainee

should put things first on process and all he should do is to trust. The trainee’s Senior Engineer is

a kind of person who wants everything to be done on time. He doesn't like having doubts and

pressures. Every time he talks to the trainee, the trainee feel nervous and he knew it. He knew

what the trainee’s feeling when he was talking to him. The Senior Engineer spends a little time

counseling the trainee because of his behavior. The Senior Engineer taught the trainee to stay

calm even when he feels pressured on the situation. The Senior Engineer also taught the trainee

about the importance of patience and confidence for he was so thankful on him for challenging

not only the trainee’s skills but also its confidence and patience because this makes the trainee to

do on his very best. This wonderful word of the Senior Engineer is a great learning experience.

21
Aside for the trainee related courses experiences, this OJT taught the trainee to be

obedient and respectful. This training allowed the trainee to get acquainted with the employee

especially in the process engineering department. The process engineering department keeps

motivating the trainee to pursue on its dreams and encourage being the best always. Being with

the process engineering department is such a pleasure to the trainee and never be forgotten.

The trainee was really thankful to the Ampleon Philippines Inc. for giving him the

opportunity to accomplish a memorable On-the-Job Training. The trainee’s training has ended,

but the journey is still in the process. The trainee was looking forward to work with Ampleon, not

as a trainee anymore, but as an engineer, someday.

D. Conclusion

Perfect learning tool is an experience, and nothing will beat it. The training of the trainee had

in the Ampleon Philippines Inc. was an everyday learning experience. This OJT served as the

trainee stepping stone to pursue his dream to be an Engineer someday. This training gave the

trainee the best experience he can ever have. The trainee was encouraged to put more efforts on

his work and studies. This training taught the trainee to be focused on whatever task he may

handle. Performing task not only with focus but also with excellence and velocity is what the

company taught on their trainee.

The trainee’s training was a memorable one. The trainee On-the-Job Training enriched his

knowledge on the real working area and created a big foundation of being a good employee

someday. It makes the trainee feel refreshed. The trainee learned to become tactful in both words

and action.

During his training hours at Ampleon, the trainee was able to understand actual

mechanical engineering processes. And with the help of the trainers, he was able to develop his

22
skills and abilities on operating machines. The trainers developed not only the trainee’s skills but

also his characteristics. The trainers taught the trainee to love what he is doing. Taught him to

accept whenever he fail or made a mistake, and stand up to start and correct what he have done.

The trainers once said that “Failure is the best learning key to success”. The trainers taught the

trainee to not to give up on what his heart desires.

This trainee’s training helps him to be more productive and determined in everything that he

will do as a student today and as an engineer someday.

E. Recommendation

As a part of recommendation, a trainee must choose an organization that can help to develop

their skills and abilities in the field of mechanical engineering. A trainee must choose where they

can excel, and acquire new knowledge that may help in their near future profession.

And above all, a trainee must choose a company that will mold not only the skills but

priotizing its characterisitics and attitude. Company like Ampleon is highly recommended

organization for an intern. Ampleon is a leading global partner in RF power. This leading global

partner in RF power organization has more than 15 engineering fields that may help a trainee to
