Tel Aviv Guide:

Where to go:
- Rothschild Boulevard, south tel aviv, most famous boulevard, lined with coffee
places, restaurants bars, you can walk down from one side to the next and just enjoy
the wildness, stop by for a frozen yogurt at Tamara (best fro-yo), go visit the
independence museum.
o Good restaurants around:
 Su-su and sons (burger stand on the Herzl st end of the boulevard,
next to the French consulate, famous burgers)
 Sababa Pizza, really good pizza.
 Da, Da & Da – amazing brunch on the French consulate, quite
expensive
 Social Club
 Bicicleta
 So many more, I can’t think of all of them haha
o Good clubs around this area:
 Kuli Alma – latin music mostly Thursdays
 Sputnik
 Jimmy
 Mundo 2000 – rooftop bar

- Neve Tsedek, also south Tel Aviv, more of a soho, bohemian type neighborhood,
very small and tight roads and old buildings, really pretty to walk around during the
day, eat at Anita Ice Cream/ Golda ice cream (best ice cream in the country), go to
the suzanne dellal center, to the old train station.

- Florentine, south Tlv, young, vibrant neighborhoods, amazing for nights out you will
find many bars here and many people walking their dogs at all hours of the night. If
you like sweet snacks, there is a milkshake shop that is incredible there but I forgot
what it was called :/

- Dizengoff area: really great to walk around for shopping/bars/restaurants, you can’t
go wrong with Dizengoff. The clothing stores usually have very cute local designers
at good prices if you like to shop at smaller places, go get a beer at the Beer Garden
bar located on the Kikar Dizengoff (dizengoff square), if you need anything at all for
your apartment/studies/clothes/doctor etc you can find it at the Dizengoff center,
just try not to get lost in there. On Friday mornings they have local food stands in the
center where you can buy typical Israeli and arab food to go and is delicious. There
are also a bunch of good Falafel/shwarma places on Dizengoff you could definitely
try.

- Jaffa: Jaffa is one of my favorite places, it is the most southern part of tlv and you
can really feel the Arab culture mixed in with the Israeli culture. I like to go there at
night but you can walk around late-afternoonish and watch the sunset on the beach
before getting dinner and a beer around the Shuk Hapishpushim (Flea Market) which
is filled with little bars and snacks. Definitely try the Malabi stand, it is on the main
market square, there will usually be a line and Malabi is a sweet Arabic jelly like
dessert on which you can put toppings. Also, many of the restaurants have an entrée
which is fried cauliflower with black tahina, I highly recommend it.
o On Friday morning go to Abu Hassan Hummus. BEST HUMMUS EVER. Really
deep in Jaffa but you won’t be able to miss it, it’s a massive line for a tiny
place. When you sit down order Massabacha (mix of hummus and tahini),
there will be no menu and everything goes fast, eat with hot pita bread or
onion and then go nap for 5 hours because you will be full for the entire day
haha

- Ibn Gvirol: Big avenue center of tlv, next to the municipality and the Kikar Rabin
(Rabin square) area. Very good restaurants and bars also, go to Chateau Shual, a
wine bar on the corner of the square that’s really popular for late afternoon-evening
drinks. Caphé Hanoi is a good Vietnamese place on that street, or Siciliana Ice
Cream.

- Namal (port) area: This is where you’ll find all the main clubs of tlv. Light and
Shalvata are two popular ones with tourists, usually you’ll pay 50 for entrance unless
you go there earlier (before 11) and you have to bring an ID with you obviously. I’m
not a huge fan of the place but it’s a pretty popular spot and obviously it’s by the
port so the view is really nice.

- Basel st: One of my favorite streets in tlv for cafés, go to Hamanya Café, it’s got
amazing breakfasts, might wait a long line but it’s worth it.

Restaurants by type:

Sushi: keep in mind the sushi places in tlv are pretty expensive. If you want cheap sushi go
to the chain Japanika (I personally don’t like the sushi there but sometimes there is no
choice :D )
- Fu Sushi
- Moon
- TYO (extremely fancy, only for celebrations)

Burgers:
- Vitrina (best burger in tlv)
- Susu and sons
- Meat bar burger
- Agadir (Chain restaurant)

Mexican
- Taqueria (order the nachos to share and the churros for dessert!)
- Mexicana
Asian
- Zozobra (cheap and chain and delicious)
- Giraffe (same as above)
- Mina Tomei, 5 asian kitchens
- Hiro ramen
- Thai House
- Caphe Hanoi
- Poke shop
- Wok to walk

Israeli Style
- Abraxas
- Port Said – highly recommend, go early and expect a line but you can order a drink at
the bar and wait for a table
- Bicicleta
- Basar veLehem
- The Old Man and the Sea – in Jaffa, very typical middle eastern restaurant with
10000 salads on the table and choice of meats and sides, the bill will probably be
expensive.

Munchies
- Nununu dirty eating – new snackish place where they have weird combinations of
food but it tastes pretty good, if you have the munchies
- Tamara – for frozen yogurt or ice cream or best juices
- Max Brenners – typical chocolate restaurant
- Anita/Golda – best ice cream
- Any falafel/shwarma place will be good

Shopping
- Dizengoff center – has all the main stores + everything but can get very busy and
confusing
- Azrieli center – famous three tlv towers, the circle the triangle and the square, has
most of the retail stores Zara, H&M etc
- Ramat Aviv center – right next to the university, pretty high end and expensive, has
topshop, zara, bershka (not H&M).
- There are more but these are the 3 I usually go to.
- Shenkin street – one of the best streets in Tlv for smaller stores for shopping, you
have to dig around but you can find amazing things there.

Jerusalem:
- Go to the shuk Mahane Yehuda. Honestly the best place for going out/eating during
the day. Let me know before you go there and I’ll forward you some places to go to
on whatsapp because I can’t remember their names now. I’ll also introduce you to
my friend Reuven who works at Beerbazar there and always hosts people and will
recommend the best places to eat as well.
