Refraction

Section 1

 The bending of light as it travels from one medium to another is called refraction.
 If light travels from one transparent medium to another at any angle other than straight
(normal to the surface), the light ray changes direction when it meets the boundary.
 The angle between the refracted ray and the normal is called the angle of refraction, qr ,
and the angle of incidence is designated as qi.
 Refraction occurs when light’s velocity changes
 Refraction can be explained in terms of the wave model of light

