You are going to see images of five cities and their landmarks. Write a
paragraph describing each city and country it belongs and the landmark shown.
Use the vocabulary from the box for the descriptions. The first one is done for

New York is a big city in the

United States (North
America). It takes thousand of
visitors every year. The city
has a population of around 8
million people. There is a lot
to see and do in New York.
You can visit the Central Park,
the Metropolian museum and
Time’s Square. In the picture
you can see the Statue of
Liberty, a monumet built
between 1875 and 1986. It is
93 meters tall. The statue is

most beautiful and largest
squares in the world. It is located

Sydney Opera House is
undoubtedly the symbol par
excellence of Australia. It is
located in the city of Sydney. The
Sydney Opera House is also one
of the most famous buildings of
the 20th century. It was designed
by Danish architect Jørn Utzon
in 1957 and opened in 1973.
The building is unique in all its
angles, the roof is 67 meters
high, has 27,000 tons of
Swedish tiles, and more than
1,000,000 pieces. 4.5 million
visits per year.

Edinburgh Castle is the most
important and most visited
tourist attraction in the city,
which is in turn the capital of
Scotland. Its military function can
be clearly observed, since on
three sides it borders with cliffs.
The castle is accessed by an
esplanade with a steep slope, as
it is located on the top of Castle
Hill and, from the top of
Edinburgh Castle, you can
contemplate the entire city and
enjoy the best views.
The Burj Khalifa (Califa Tower) is
the tallest building in the world
with a height of 828 meters.
More than 12,000 people from
30 countries have participated in
the construction of the building.
It captures all eyes after having
become the tallest in the world
by snatching this title from
Canton Tower in Guangzhou.
Located at 555 meters high, the
viewpoint occupies the 148th
floor of the building to offer
amazing bird views of the city in
miniature, as it could not be
otherwise from such a height.
