Evidence: describing cities and places / Evidencia: Describiendo ciudades y lugares

You are going to see images of five cities and their landmarks. Write a paragraph describing
each city and country it belongs and the landmark shown. Use the vocabulary from the box
for the descriptions. The first one is done for you as an example..

Rome (Italy) - Saint Peter’s Square:


Rome is the capital of Italy. Rome has a population
of around 2.7 million people. In Italy, you can find the
Grand Canal in Venice, where you can go boating
(ride boats). Rome has many traditional buildings. St.
Peter's Square, is a square in front of the cathedral,
also known as St. Peter's Basilica. In the center of
the square is an Egyptian obelisk.

Sydney (Australia) - The Sydney Opera House:


Sydney is Australia's most populous city. It is located
on the east coast of Australia. In the photo you can
see the Sydney Opera House. The traditional
building occupies the entirety of Bennelong Point on
Sydney Harbor. It was inaugurated in 1973 and
became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007.
More than eight million people visit the site each
year.

Edinburgh (Scotland) - Edinburgh Castle:


Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland and the second
most populous city in Scotland. Scotland has many
mountains and hills for hiking enthusiasts. In the
photo you can see Edinburgh Castle.
Edinburgh has long been known as a center of
education, especially in the fields of medicine.
Dubai (United Arab Emirates) - The Burj Khalifa:

Dubai is the most populous city in the United Arab


Emirates. The city has many modern buildings.
Dubai is in the Arab desert. In the photo you can
see the Burj Khalifa also known as the Khalifa
tower. It is the tallest skyscraper in the world.
Outside, a fountain system has been designed.
