India. Serving 70 million patrons annually, the company acquired Cinemax in 2012

Productivity improvements realized organizationwide
Before the Kronos solution streamlined payroll processing, PVR Cinemas’ HR team gathered
payroll information from the registers at each cinema. Payroll leakages were also an issue.
“Using the solution we have eliminated manual errors, shortened the payroll processing time,
and seen immediate cost savings in the payroll process,” says Nitin Sood, CFO, PVR Limited.
“We have seen the biggest productivity improvements in the HR department, where we’ve
moved to completely automated processes. HR also leverages the strength of the master roll
report for final review before payroll processing.”
Absence management tools provide auditability
When PVR Cinemas used an entirely manual attendance and absence management process,
HR staff and management had no way of confirming the veracity of attendance data.
Instituting controlled attendance policies for employees was difficult with manual processes.
And proxy punching was a concern.
PVR Cinemas’ leave policies are now configured in the Kronos absence management module.
All full-time employees request leave either at Kronos InTouch terminals or through the web
portal on PCs. The automated solution streamlines the leave-request process, enhances
employee engagement, and enables auditability.

Sizable time, paper, and labor cost savings
PVR Cinemas has seen savings in multiple areas. HR staff no longer spends numerous hours
performing manual data reconciliation and updates. Reporting managers and employees are
enjoying time savings with automated processes. PVR Cinemas also has realized significant
paper savings with the elimination of paper-based processes.

Future functionality
PVR Cinemas is in the process of adding the Kronos mobile application. Using mobile devices,
employees will be able to view their timecards, schedules, and accrual balances, and request
leave time, further increasing engagement. Managers will be able to see team schedules,
approve timecards, review and resolve exceptions, and act on leave requests. To further
staffing optimization, PVR Cinemas also plans to add Workforce Scheduler, giving managers
additional tools to effectively manage their workforce.
