major arterial roads and inter residential district

12.15 BARRIER FREE ENVIRONMENT

A major consideration in the planning and design of outdoor and
indoor movement should be that people with disability, older
persons and people in wheel chairs could move about the without
help from others. This requires that:

· Paths and pavement shall be flat, uniform slip-free and free from
unnecessary obstacles.

· Orientation points and guide routes may be provided for usually

disabled people;

· Information and warning signs must be understandable, clear

and well lit.
