HOW TO MAKE A BALLOON BAROMETER?

Objectives:

• Create a balloon barometer to prove the existence of atmospheric pressure

• Determine factors that affects the atmospheric pressure

Materials Needed:

• Jar
• Scissors
• Rubber band
• Balloon
• Tape
• Straw
• Thin Board

Procedure:

1. Cut the opening portion of the balloon and take it away

2. Cover the jar using the large portion of the balloon.
3. Put some rubber band to hold the balloon tightly
4. Cut the bended part of the straw and use the longer one and make a sharp end on
one of the sides of the straw
5. Attach one end of the straw on the top of the jar using tape and make sure that
the sharp edge of the straw points away the jar
6. On the thin board, mark the level of the edge of the sharp straw and then make
scale on it, such as high and low, to identify the movement of the straw
7. Place it anywhere you want
8. Observe it time by time and see what will happen
