Investigation Group Plan

Teacher(s): Maddy Aesoph Tyana Gottsleben Children: Giizhik, Brecken, Maisie

Week of (date): November 13th and 15th

Reflection from previous week:

What was successful about the week overall? (What did the group find interesting and how do you
know they found it interesting? What new information was learned?)

This week we explored some different materials on the projector and on the light table. On Tuesday,
the toddlers got to create their own creation on translucent sheets using markers and then got to
display them on the projector. The toddlers really enjoyed seeing their creations being projected on
the wall. On Thursday, the toddlers explored lava lamp bags on the light table with insects inside. They
were engaged in the lava bags and enjoyed manipulating the liquids and insects inside.

What struggles did the group encounter? How did you problem solve together?

One struggle that we encountered this week with the toddlers is that a different light table was in the
light room and it was big. For us to use the projector, we had to move the light table into the hallway
which easily solved our problem.

What did the children tell me this week to know where to go (verbally, physically, my observations)?
Where does the group plan to go next? What steps can be taken to move in that direction?

The toddlers are continuing to show interest in the different activities we have been doing that involve
light. We are going to continue our light exploration by making creations on the light table this week.
On Tuesday, the toddlers are going to paint on plastic wrap on the light table and then transfer their
creations onto paper to keep. On Thursday, the toddlers are going to explore how light shines through
the paper as they draw with markers.

Daily Reflections:
Tuesday:

What did you do as a group?

What did the children say and think (add quotes – and include teachers’ thoughts as well)?

What were your successes and struggles?

How do you know where the group needs to go next? Do you need to make changes for tomorrow?

How did you document today (what pictures do you want to remember on the computer)?
