Lesson Implementation (e.g., confidence, enthusiasm, knowledge, lesson structure, resources, strategies, questions, assessment)

Differentiation strategies employed

 Use of different equipment (lighter ball)

 Activities allowed students to self-differentiate as they become more effective. i.e. changing distance between players,
quality of feed from very consistent to more erratic forcing students to modify and adapt their movement patterns.

 Students were grouped by similar level of readiness for certain activities and a mixture of readiness levels within other
activities.

 Use of a variety of questioning styles to aid understanding and add or remove the level of scaffolding within the
questioning style

 Variety of detail and structure within instructions and feedback given to individuals. This was gauged from previous
knowledge of student and their level of achievement and attainment within the lesson.

 Use of a variety of verbal and non-verbal communication strategies form instruction, demonstration and modelling of
good technique and success criteria

 Inclusion of targets to assist in accuracy particularly with students with higher levels of readiness.

 Modifications of the serving within the “big game”

 Providing opportunity for peer feedback

Impact on student learning

 Increased engagement within activities

 Improved levels of motivation through the removal of barriers to participation and students being aware of and
recognising their own successes.

 Students clearly understand what is expected within the activity.

 Improved student outcomes across the levels of readiness with regards to skill execution and strategies employed within
modified games.

 Students were able to provide each other with simple feedback with regards to team strengths and weaknesses within the
“big game” and individual feedback during some of the learning activities

General Feedback (Positive comments and goals for next lesson)

You clearly have control of the class and classroom environment. You have created a positive learning environment where the
vast majority of students feel safe and comfortable with the failing part of the learning process. You have used a range of
differentiation strategies well within the main body of the lesson and achieved positive outcomes for students and to some extent
within the “big game”. Your next step is to continue to work with those students who have either removed themselves from the
activities at times or cannot physically participate for whatever reason. You can continue to develop your ability to explicitly link
your learning activities to your learning outcome with students throughout the lesson.
