    Chosen Music, Genre, or Event: The Impact of MTV on the Music Industry

    Reasons:

    MTV was a TV station launched on August 1, 1981. It popularized and later


    commercialized the idea of music videos, which were a relatively new concept back in
    early 80's. This TV channel played a huge role not only in the music industry, but also in
    the music subculture for over 20 years. Many artists found a new way to express
    themselves thanks to MTV emphasizing the concept of music videos and VJs. At the top of
    that the music industry saw a new way of investments into their artists and performers to
    make a greater impact that would be reflected in growing sales and profit.
