3.0 Analysis and Design

3.1 Load Contribution From Superstructure

The loading from the column to the pile is analyzed by using the software Esteem.
Design data as following:
Beam size = 200mm x 200mm
Column size = 200mm x 600mm
Slab thickness = 300mm
From the result analysis of software Esteem, the axial force applied to each of the column is
tabled as the following:

Table 3.1: Axial load contributed by each specific column

Column Axial force applied on column, F (kN)
C1 (2,B) 75.04
C2 (2,C) 105.82
C3 (2,D) 75.04
C4 (4,B) 173.47
C5 (4,C) 201.23
C6 (4,D) 173.47
C7 (6,B) 173.47
C8 (6,C) 201.23
C9 (6,D) 173.47
C10 (8,B) 75.04
C11 (8,C) 105.82
C12 (8,D) 75.04

Action on the pile:

Self-weight of column = (0.200 x 0.200 x 1.000) x 25 kN/m3
= 1.0 kN
Total action applied on the pile = axial force applied on column + self-weight of column

To easy the works, the loading of the column to the pile with the same applied force will be
categorized together.

3.2 Foundation Design

Foundation design calculation has been done in the work sheet by manual calculation and attach
at the appendix.

The result of designed foundation as shown in Table 3.3.
