Business Unit: (Operating Unit in EBS)

pre-requiste : Locations,

Step1: Procurement => organization structures => Manage Inventory Organization Locations

2: Procurement => Organization Structures => Manage Business unit (Data Reference Set is required as
pre-requisite)

3: Assign BU business functions like Procurement,Payables invoicing, payables payment etc

and also assign the primary ledger and default legal entity for financial reporting.

4: Manage BU set assignment(Reference Data set)

Data reference set is to share similar data across BU’s as in the case of payment terms.

Enterprise Configuration
• What is the level of configuration needed to achieve the reporting and accounting requirements? •
What components of your enterprise do you need to report on separately? • Which components can be
represented by building a hierarchy of values to provide reporting at both detail and summary levels? •
Where are you on the spectrum of centralization versus decentralization?

Business Unit Management

• What reporting do I need by business unit? • How can you set up your departments or business unit

 Slicing and dicing drill down

 Install SmartView
 => General Accounting => Financial Reporting Center => Financial Reports => Open workspace
=> Tools install smartview => add-in in MS-Excel
 Change the url in options =>advanced => shared connection url
 Panel => Shared Connections => Fusion credentials (login details) => select Essbase and select
the Cube => Point of View sheet opens up
