CHAPTER I

The Problem and Its Setting

1. Introduction

This research paper presents findings from a qualitative research study that was

conducted by the researcher. It highlights the good and bad effects of the interplay

between technology and humanity the society. It also highlights how technology can

interact to individual.

The interplay of technology and humanity can occur in different locations like

inside the home, in the workplace, in the learning place or simply on the streets. For the

researcher, the interplay of the two means using different technological devices and

machines and enhancing and using different service robots.

Doing that interaction of technology and humanity can result in good and bad

effects to the society. This result are to improve one society and to have ever-

progressing mind of mankind on a society. On the other hand, it also results to decrease

the development of particular society and to change the character of people in society.

1
1.1 Background of the Study

The human interaction in technology started when the earliest conception of

robots traced around 3000 B.C from the Egyptians. This is not actually a enhance robot

because they used human figurines for their water clock to strike the hour bells. But in

some instances, robots means a mechanical device that built to carry out a specific

physical task regularly based on current state and sensing without human intervention.

However, the earliest robots as people know them were created in early 1950’s by

George Devol. “Unimate” was his first invention from the words “Universal

Automation”. Unfortunately, his attempt to sell his product to the industry did not

succeed. After Unimate, several robots were also invented which were better version of

the previous ones. Ever since, people never stopped their quest in the field of robotics.

While stilling inventing and developing different robots, one man created a

technological devices that also helps interacting technology and humanity. Martin

Cooper, a senior engineer of Motorola, made the world’s first mobile phone last April

3, 1973. The mobile phone made by Cooper weighed 1.1 kilograms and measured 228.6

x 127 x 44.4mm. This kind of device was capable of a 30-minute talk time. However,

it took 10 hours to charge. In 1983, Motorola made their first commercial mobile phone

available to the public. It was known as the Motorola DynaTAC 8000x. This creation

made a great impact to communicate to one another and also result in great interaction

of the two.

2
In some resources, the interplay is started 18th Century. Gradually different

things started to be invented but the main era of technology and invention came in the

18th century when industrial revolution started and machines got invented and various

types of development and production started. The Industrial Revolution began in Great

Britain, and many of technological innovations were of Britain Origin. By the mid-18th

century Britain was the world’s leading commercial nation, controlling a global trading

empire with colonies in North America and Africa, and with some political influenced

on the Indian subcontinent, through the activities of the East India Company. The

development of trade and the rise of business were major causes of the Industrial

Revolution.

New knowledge has enabled people to create new things, and conversely, many

scientific endeavors, are made possible by technologies which assist humans in

travelling to places they could not previously reach, and by scientific instruments by

which the study in more detail than the natural senses allow.

If everyone look back to the mid 20 century, there was no access of internet and

it was difficult for people to communicate with each other and had problems in their

businesses but with the invention of internet, people would have face to face

conversation via Skype, facebook, live streaming etc. and now people could have online

banking which have ended many problems for businessman’s.

3
As more existing technologies are stacked onto each other and developed into

something greater, consumers and businessman alike can expect to see more

opportunity with future technology.

4
1.2 Statement of the Problem

The study focused on the Interplay Between Technology and Humanity and Its

Effect in the Society conducted by the researcher. The researcher aims to answer

the following questions:

1. What are the good and bad effects of interplay of technology and humanity?

 Is good effects is more than bad effects to people?

2. How to ensure the safety and morality of people in the society for having

the effects of technology and humanity?

3. How robots helps to enrich the growth of a society?

 What are the sample robot in enriching the growth of a society?

4. How human interaction in technology influence the various aspects of the

society?

5
1.3 Significance of the Study

In conducting different researcher, all of them have their own significance to

everyone. The following are the significance of the study:

Students: The study is use to be familiar and popular of having this relationship.

It also help to know where the interaction happen and why this relationship happen.

Also, it contribute to determine the cause of the phenomenon of the use of

technologies with passage of time.

Teachers: It use to know the capability of a teacher/ individual using technology

or devices. Also, it use to help in improving their teaching skills.

Barangay Officials: It use to understand the great impact of having technology

or technological devices for a society. In addition, it shows how the interaction

influence the various aspects of the society.

6
1.4 Purpose of the Study

Every research papers have their own purposes that will support in making good

research paper. The following are the purpose of the following:

 can discover the new definition or explanation about technology and

humanity relationship;

 can help in lessening the bad effects of this relationship in a society;

 can help in gaining the good effects of having this interplay in developing

society;

 can determine the difference of this relationship to other relationship;

 can help in making safe the morality of each individual in a society;

 can know the history of this interplay;

 can show the importance of this study;

 can provide the influence of human interaction in technology for those

various aspects of the society;

 can investigate where the interaction happen;

 can find why those relationship is being made; and

 can recognized the capabilities and limitations of one individual in using

technology and technological devices.

7
1.5 Scope and Limitations

The study is mostly focus to a society having the interplay between

technology and humanity. Some references like Merriam-Webster Dictionary, a society

is the people of a particular country, area, time, etc. thought of especially as an

organized community. But for this research, a society covers a community, area,

institution or a school. Students, teachers, barangay officials, and family are involve in

this research.

8
1.6 Definition of Terms

Interplay: It happens if something cross to something. In other words, it is the

interaction of two or more things, groups, etc.

Morality: beliefs about what is right behavior and what is wrong behavior.

: the degree to which something is right and good; the moral goodness or

badness of something

Overconfident: having an over believe or feeling that can do something unwell or

failed at something.

Robots: is an actuated mechanism programmable in two or more axes with a

degree of autonomy, moving within its environment, to perform intended tasks.

Society: people in general thought of as living together in organized communities

with shared laws, traditions, and values

: the people of a particular country, area, time, etc., thought of especially as an

organized community

Technological devices: this are the gadgets or devices that help in interacting the

technology and human.

9
Technology: came from the Greek words techne and logos which means art and

word. In other words, technology means a discourse on arts.

CHAPTER II

Review of Relate Literature

This chapter presents the related links literature and studies after the thorough

and in-depth search done by the researcher. This includes different sources such as

journals, books, articles and other research paper that will serve as a background of the

study.

The researcher found the several readings that provide background for this

study which are reviewed in this chapter. The researcher's carefully read and

conceptually organized the researches related to this study.

11
2.1 Theoretical Framework

According to the book entitled " Reading in Human-Computer Interaction:

Toward the Year 2000" defines the different definition of what human and technology

relationship is. Several studies ( Norman, 1988a, 1992b ) includes the examines the

design of a multitude of common objects, such as doors , light switches, water faucets,

stove controls, refrigerator, washer - dryers, slide projectors, telephone, VCR's and

watches. He finds examples of bad design almost everywhere, even for objects for

simpler than most human-computer interfaces. Norman (1988a) introduces several

concepts that he uses in his analyses of both good and bad designs:

Affordances are the perceived properties of an artifact that determine how it

could possibly be used. For example, buttons are for pushing, menus are for choosing.

Constraints are physical, Semantic, cultural, and logical factors that encourage

proper actions and prevent erroneous ones.

Conceptual models are mental models of a system which allow users to

understand the system, to predict the effects of their actions, and to interpret the results.

Mappings describe the relationships between controls and their effects on a

system. For example, moving a control to the left should move a corresponding display

object left.

Visibility in the design of a system makes apparent to users the conceptual model

of the system and the actions they are allowed to take.

Feedback from a system provides information about the effects of users' actions.

12
Norman (1992b) states that the human-computer interaction is a discipline

concerned with design, evaluation and implementation of interactive computing

systems for human use and with the study of major phenomena surrounding them.

Dix et al. (1993) offer the following definition: " Human-Computer Interaction

(HCI) is, put simply, the study of people, computer technology and the ways these

influence each other. We study HCI to determine how we can make this computer

technology more usable by people."

Finally, Preece et al. (1994) explained that human-computer interaction is about

designing computer system that support people so that that can carry out their activities

productively and safety.

If the book of "Reading in Human-Computer Interaction: Toward the Year 2000"

states the uses of different and conceptual designs made by the computer, in some

reference, it is the use of technological devices such as mobile phones and tablets.

According to Serafica, Pawilen, Caslib and Alata (2018) everyone to use their mobile

phones and tablets anywhere, anytime. Everyone use it for different purposes other than

for communication. More than half of the Filipino population own at least one mobile

phone or tablet regardless of type. To prove that Filipinos really love to use their mobile

phones or tablets, the Ipsos Media Atlas Philippines Nationwide Urban 2011-2012

13
survey results showed that one in every three Filipinos cannot live without a mobile

phone. In other words, 30 percent of the Philippine Urban population nationwide said

that mobile phones or tablets are necessities in life. Philippines streets are fully of

people using their mobile phones or tablets. Not only this, there are some Filipinos who

even own more than one mobile phone.

It is impossible if a relationship does not have an effects or impacts to individuals

in a society. The following are the negative effects or impacts of having this

relationship:

Khulaifi (2002) sought to explore the advantages and disadvantages of the internet.

The results showed that most of the participants (91.7%) have the desire to use the

internet, and focus on the most important uses of this network for the purposes of

communication, exchanging information with others, searching for information and

entertainment. Participants in this study revealed the negative aspects of the internet

such as helping in the cultural invasion, and causing social, ethical, and health problems

if it is used frequently

Lailah (2000) conducted a study aimed at clarifying the role of media in the

information technology that badly affecting the family relationships, and focused on

the negative impact of the performance of the media and information technology in our

society. As a result, this helps to erode the value systems which oriented to family

interaction. The study recommended upbringing the young and the adult according to a

14
moral system supporting their identity.

Bryant (2006) carried out a study intended to identify the relationship between the

use of text messaging and the formation of social networks for teenagers. The sample

of study consisted of 40 participants ranged in age group (11-13 years). The study results

confirmed that there is a limited overlap between friendships in the lives of individuals

and friendships through interactive technology. So, there is a number of friends on the

internet to communicate with them on line and instant messaging has proven that it is

not a substitute for a source of social support to people who suffer from isolation.

Al Aga (2009) performed a study aimed at identifying the impact of new

technologies, the patterns of internet used, disclosure of the negative uses and

identifying the uses of mobile phone and Bluetooth among the study sample on juvenile

delinquency in the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries. The results of this study

showed that there are significant differences in the patterns of the use of internet

technology and mobile phone among juvenile delinquents and non-delinquents.

Moreover, juvenile delinquents use the Internet and mobile phones in negative acts

more than others. However, there are differences between juvenile delinquents and non-

delinquents in the main study axes according to the primary variables.

Al-Majali (2007) demonstrated study to recognize the impacts of internet use on

the social relations among university students in Jordanian society. The sample of the

15
study was chosen randomly and consisted of (325) and female participants of Mutah

University. The results of the study showed that the impact of internet use on social

relations increased in the case of getting students to use the Internet on their own, and

the greater the number of hours the participants used daily. The results also showed that

most uses of the internet are for scientific research purposes, and mostly within the

campus. In addition to that, the results showed the impact of internet use on social

relations and some qualitative variables, such as gender, age, type of college, academic

level, monthly income to the families of the participants, as indicated by the (F) value

in terms of statistics ≥ 0.05.The study developed a set of recommendations regarding

the impact of internet use on the social relations.

Rabab Al-Gammal (2014) highlighted the impact of new media (social networking

via the Internet) on the pattern of values and moral on young people in Saudi Arabia in

order to develop a mechanism to promote moral values. The author emerged from the

main objective with the following sub-goals:

1. Monitoring, examining and evaluating relationship between the young and the

modern mass media by identifying the intensity use of the new media, the type of

participation, motivation and the implication of interest to young people towards them.

2. Determining the moral order of the Saudi youth - as part of the Arab and Muslim

young people - and the degree of adoption of the youth moral and religious values

recently.

3. Explaining how Saudi youth deal with virtual time provided by new media

16
especially the internet style.

4. Monitoring the opinions and attitudes of young people about the reasons for the

spread of immoral behaviors and the relationship of that amount of exposure to new

media in Saudi Arabia other Arab and the Islamic countries.

Al Yousef (2006) conducted a study under a title of the "Advantages and

Disadvantages of Modern Technologies - Studying the negative effects on the health of

the individual." The study pointed out that in the case of addiction to the use of the

internet, this will lead to a loss of self-control, the neglect of personal status, poor

relations and communication in the social environment. The study confirmed that the

risk of internet addiction is increasing among people who enjoy free access to it, as a

case of university students. To summarize, there is a lot of research investigating the

negative impacts of misusing modern technologies on society in Jordan. The current

research based on the previous ones shows the negative impacts of modern technologies

on society. The authors hope that by showing the negative effects of modern

technologies, it will have positive influences on individuals and society in general since

modern technologies play a main role in people's lives and future possibilities.

21
The diagram or table shows the conceptual framework of this study. This

conceptual framework follows the Input, Process, Output (IPO) format to explain the

flow of the research.

The first column states the input of the study. This includes the interplay between

technology and humanity and the effects of the relationship in the society. This also

includes the various aspects of the society that influence by human interaction in

technology. To get the output of the conceptual framework the researcher do reading

books, journals, and articles and through survey questionnaires that been place in the

second column of the table.

The third column states the output or result the process did by the researcher. The

first output described the interplay between technology and humanity. It states that

interplay happen when technology and humanity cross. They cross by using technology

and technological devices such as televisions, mobile phones, tablets, laptop or netbook

and personal computer. The interplay occur in different places like in the workplace,

people to listen to good music wherever they are. Another is, it allows them to

communicate with their loved ones anywhere in the world; but most of all, it allows

them to surf and play games anytime, anywhere.

Also, in the third column the researcher states the effects of the relationship in the

society. In this part, the researcher conducted the survey in everyone. Through survey

23
CHAPTER III

Methods and Procedures

This chapter presents the research methodologies used in the study. This includes

the research design, research locale, respondent of the study, research procedure and

research instruments.

This chapter also presents what procedure did the researcher used, how many

respondents in study, where the research took and what instruments did the researcher

used.

24
3.1 Research Design

According to Yin, a research design is a plan that guides the researcher in the

process of collecting, analyzing, and interpreting observation. It is divided into four:

descriptive, correlation, experimental, and documentary analysis. The researcher used

a descriptive survey method in order to gather different information for their personal

profile like name, grade and section (for students), age, gender, and educational

attainment (for professionals). This survey designed for the good and bad effects of the

relationship between technology and humanity. The researcher used the descriptive

survey method to easily know what their perception about the effects of the relationship

are.

25
3.2 Research Locale

The researcher used the questionnaires to conduct survey to conduct survey to

different places like school and community. The survey is given to an institution which

is Batangas Eastern Colleges. Also, the survey is conducted to the community of San

Isidro, Rosario, and Batangas. The respondents will take a survey in their classrooms,

houses and offices.

26
3.3 Respondent of the Study

The respondent of the study are composed of 30 people, in total; came from

different places.

There are 10 respondent from a community includes the chosen barangay

officials and parents. Also, there are 10 respondent to the chosen students from the

junior high school department. The remaining respondent are from the chosen junior

high school teachers with bachelor's degree and masteral degree.

27
3.4 Research Procedure

The research used one strategy approach to collect and gather data because

one method to collect data in a study is one of the easiest way for the research. The

method which been applied in this study is survey questionnaires. The survey is

conducted last January 4, 2019, until the next seven days. The gather data is interpret

after the survey completed.

28
3.5 Research Instrument

The following instrument was used in the conduct of the research:

Survey Questionnaires: This instrument was used by the researcher because he

wants to have proof and tangible outcome in order to show the results easily. This

instrument will be used in taking the thoughts of the respondents about the interplay

between technology and humanity and its good and bad effects in the society. To

increase ease of answering the survey, the questionnaires was designed in a form

format.

29
CHAPTER IV

Presentation, Analysis and Interpretation of Data

This chapter presents the gathered data in tabular presentation, analysis and

interpretation of findings based on the results of the survey that where conducted by the

researcher. The data are organized in sequential order based on the statement of the

problem in chapter 1.

4.1. Discussions

It presents the answers to the questions stated in the statement of the problem.

The following are the questions and answers that are based in Chapter 1.

4.1.1 What are the good and bad effects of interplay between technology and humanity?

There are different places that can be show the good and bad effects of this

relationship like schools, houses or simply on the street. The good effects of this

relationship are the following:

Schools for education: Students demand it. Students are engaging with

technology constantly outside of the classroom. Kids like to be interactive, and learning

through technology has now become a part of their lifestyle.

30
New teachers are demanding it. The technology movement has been implemented

in post-secondary education as well as other professional jobs. For new teachers,

technology is considered a necessity for the learning environment.

Kids are the digital native. Kids know technology better than most adults. It has

become the easiest way they learn, because it is such an integral part of their life.

Engaging with technology in the classroom has not only helped them learn better, but

they also acquire multi-tasking skills. At this day in age, they hardly know how to learn

without it. This knowledge is important, because they would be way behind in the real

world without it.

Kids can learn at their own pace. We know from years of experience that kids learn

at their own pace, but sometimes the traditional classroom makes it difficult to do so.

With the integration of technology in education, children have the ability to slow down

and go back over lessons and concepts, and more advanced kids can go ahead. It also

frees up the teacher to help kids on a more one-on-one level.

With technology, there are no limitations. Having access to other information

outside of the book gives students many different ways to learn a concept. Teachers can

come up with creative ways to teach their students that keeps them engaged.

Technology has changed the learning environment so that learning is more hands-on.

31
Schools throughout the nation are diverse in income, and often kids don’t always get

the resources they need. The implementation of technology in schools helps close that

gap.

Technology has the ability to enhance relationships between teachers and students.

When teachers effectively integrate technology into subject areas, teachers grow into

roles of adviser, content expert, and coach. Technology helps make teaching and

learning more meaningful and fun. Students are also able to collaborate with their own

classmates through technological applications.

Testing has gone online. One protocol that schools don’t have control over, but

must adapt to, is online testing. Testing online is the way of the future, but it has a lot

of advantages. Assessing students’ performance can be done instantly with technology.

Beyond seeing test scores in real-time, teachers can better track and understand

students’ grasp of the subject.

Multitude of resources Computers, tablets, and other forms of technology bring

multiple resources for the teacher that’s not in the book. They not only keep students

engaged with exciting new features and apps, but also have other ways to teach students

material. Every kid learns differently, and technology helps with this gap as well.

Technology keeps kids engaged. The students of this generation are considered

32
technological learners. They learn best being more interactive, and technology is what

helps them do that. Children often struggle to stay on task or interested, and with

resources to help the teacher, they can better stay focused and learn faster.

Technology is necessary to succeed outside of primary and secondary education.

Whether we like it or not, technology is an essential concept to learn. Because it changes

so quickly, children are better off learning about it sooner. It is a primary part of every

industry, and there is no way around it. These days, technology means more than just

learning basic computing skills. Technology has made itself part of every aspect of our

lives today, and the students who understand it are the ones who succeed in the business

world.

Society: Technology has helped in advancing all the four types of transportation

and these include ; (1) road transport used by automobiles ,(2) air transport which is

used by airplanes , (3) water transportation which is used by ships and speed boats and

(4) space transportation used to go to the moon. The most used of all these is Road

transportation, this one facilitates the movement of goods and people. Technologies like

automobiles, buses, and trucks have improved the way humans move and how they

transport their goods from place to another.

Technology has improved communication: Communication is used for a number of

purposes. Both society and organizations depend on communication to transfer

33
information. People use technology to communicate with each other. Electronic media

like radios, televisions, internet, and social media have improved the way we exchange

ideas which can develop our societies. In many countries, radios and televisions are

used to voice the concerns of the society, they organize live forums where the

community can contribute through mobile phones or text service systems like tweeter.

While it is true that these technological devices or relationship are useful and

beneficial, the fact remains that there are several dilemmas faced by these relationship.

First, most parents would argue that these interaction can make their children lazy and

unhealthy. This is because of the fact that people who are fixated on these technological

advancements start and end their day by using such devices. They have a great tendency

to sit and chill all day long without doing anything productive in their homes, thus

making them unhealthy because they do not just skip meals sometimes but also lack

exercise or any bodily movements. Those people have the tendency to be unaware of

the times because they are so engrossed with the use of technological devices. In fact,

if they get disturbed, there is a great chance that they will get mad or annoyed.

Moreover, these are the same people who are more likely to experience alienation

because they no longer take time to get out of their houses and mingle with other people.

On the second bad effects, the people in scientific world nor the children are

blameworthy because first, the children are not yet capable of rationally deciding for

themselves what is good and what is bad. Second, even if creators of these technologies

34
went out of their way to inform children of the pros and cons of these technological

contributions, it would still be useless because the children have no capacity to

understand them yet. So in this effect, the ones to be blamed are the adults who allowed

the children to have access to such devices in the first place without any supervision. It

is the reckless and overconfidence of the adults that cause the character change in

children.

 Is good effects is more than to bad effects to people?

It is depend to the situation because if someone cannot control his or her self in

using different technological devices, specially cellphones, the bad effects will reign

but if he or she do the other side, the good effects will be more than to bad effects.

4.1.2 How to ensure the safety and morality of people in the society for having the

effects of technology and humanity?

To ensure the safety and morality of people in the society; it uses high tech security

devices. This devices are increasing popular for both homeowners in a society. In

particular, property or society security has been boosted by a number of invaluable

developments to the products on offer. Also, using such devices in ensuring the safety,

it can help to monitor who is coming and going from a society or property. A society

security, making sure authorized users like family or close friends have access to

35
society. It is one of the best example in ensuring the safety and morality.

4.1.3 How robots helps to enrich the growth of a society?

Another great product of the innovative minds of the people is the robots. Robots

ate now widely used. A particular robots do specific tasks but focus mainly in assisting

their masters in their everyday tasks. The International Federation of Robotics (IFR)

and United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) made their task to

formulate a working definition for robots. A preliminary extract of the relevant

definition is (IFR, 2012):

A service robot that performs useful tasks for humans or equipment excluding

industrial automation application. By these service robot, a society always clean and

have a peaceful environment. Also, by the use of service robot, they can separate

biodegradable and non-biodegradable without losing a time for everyone. Lastly,

through the use of service robot, it will result in being secure of everyone lives.

A professional service robot or service robot for professional use is service robot

used for a commercial task, usually operated by a properly trained operator. The use of

this robot is use to clean the public places like streets and sidewalks. Also, by this

service robot a society will have a great growth because it perform an operation to save

the life of somebody.

36
 What are the sample robots in enriching the growth of a society?

One sample robot is DESIRE (Deutsche Servicerobotik Initiative-Germany

Service Robotics Initiative) which was launched on October 1, 2005. Some of the

expected work to performed by the DESIRE are the following: (1)" Clean up the kitchen

table" - all objects on top of the kitchen table will be moved to where they belong;

(2)"Fill the dishwasher"- the dirty dishes will be shorted correctly into the dishwasher

and (3)"Clean up the room"- all objects that are not their proper places will be moved

to where they belong.

The example robot is iRobot Corp. 710 Warrior. Daily work tasks, reinvention of

self-identity through things like initial training, intense continuous specialized training,

physical endangerment, separation from loved ones, all combined with a strong

organizational culture make for compelling and emotionally powerful situations for

individuals. All of these things affect any collaborative situation, whether it is human-

human or human-robot. Robots are tools, but they are tools that sometimes hold

meaning for people that interact with them, or through them, as when robots are

teleported at a distance. Because technology is often produced for military use before

it goes to a mass-market, it is also often a place where people interact with new

technologies and products first. All of these factors made a defense setting a really

interesting and useful place to start, for me.

4.1.4 How human interaction in technology influenced the various aspects of the

society?

The various aspects of society that influenced by interaction of technology and

human. The output or result is cultural effects on behavior, group behavior, social

change, social trade-offs, political and economic system social conflict and global

interdependence. The common influence of the relationship in various aspects are

cultural effects on behavior and group behavior. Behavior in patterns, such as speech

patterns, body language, become so deeply embedded in human minds that they often

operate without the individuals themselves being fully aware of them for having the

influence of the relationship in this aspects. In addition, the relationship influence this

aspect of the society to the group situation to rewards of companionship and

acceptance for going along with shared action of the group and makes it difficult to

assign blame or credit to any person.

CHAPTER V

Summary, Conclusions, and Recommendations

This chapter offers the summary of findings, the conclusions and

recommendations in accordance with the findings.

5.1 Summary of Findings

In modern times, there are different technological advancements in all forms

and sizes may it be inside the home, the workplace, the learning places, or simply as on

the street. It is now very accessible to almost anyone in the world. It is impossible to

say that each person in the world owns at least one technological device. Besides,

technology is not enclosed to expensive and high-end devices. Simple types of

machines that can perform simple task regularly can already be considered a form of

technology. However, despite its usefulness and beneficial characteristics, there are still

some problems faced by different technological advancements. To be specific, these

problems are ethical in nature that involve not only the machines but also mankind. It

is now impossible for the technology and humanity not to cross paths because as some

would argue, technology has become a necessity for people. At the end of the day, ethics

should still be enforced in the field of technology so as to ensure the safety and morality

of these devices to people.

43
5.2 Conclusions

The researcher first aim was to investigate how human and technology interact to

each other. Also, the researcher aim was to know what the good and bad effects of this

interaction are. Lastly, he want to know how society can affect for those effects. By

studying, breading, and researching in different facts and resources that come from

books and online, the researcher conclude the following:

Conclusion 1: The interplay happen when technology and humanity cross. They

cross by using technology and technological devices such as televisions, mobile

phones, tablets, laptop or netbook and personal computer. The interplay occur in

different places like in the workplace, inside the home, in the learning place and simply,

on the street. For examples, it allows people to listen to good music wherever they are.

Another is, it allows them to communicate with their loved ones anywhere in the world;

but most of all, it allows them to surf and play games anytime, anywhere.

Conclusion 2: Through survey questionnaires and reading books the researcher

states the good and bad effects of the relationships. Through survey, it result that good

effects are more than bad effects. The good effects are, they work make easier because

of different devices and the help of software apps like Microsoft Word, Excel,

PowerPoint Presentation, etc. It also make the people communicate for their loved ones.

In addition in good effects, they are more inform what is happening in the country or

44
world or society. And the most important result is, this is a form of entertainment to

everyone. The survey also results the bad effects; they are the ones to be blamed for

undesirable consequences, laziness and healthiness. It also the recklessness and

overconfidence of the adults that cause the character change in children.

Conclusion 3: Doing that interaction of technology and humanity can result in

good and bad effects to the society. These results are to improve one society and to have

ever-progressing mind of mankind on a society. On the other hand, it also results to

decrease the development of the particular society and to change the character of the

people in society.

45
5.3 Recommendations

Researcher want to recommend the correct use of modern technologies or the

interaction that require a comprehensive understanding to the reality of change that

happens to the community. This requires concerted efforts through full cooperation

among all sectors of society, from family to government institutions, along with

presence of useful awareness programs supervised by these institutions and pursued by

the family to utilize the modern technologies accurately in order to ensure and protect

the future generations. Nowadays, people socialized with each other using online-

environments such as Facebook, MSN, and phones instead of face to face interaction

on this type of communication. The nature of the human is not programmed for this

type of communication yet. People must live and work together to socialized each other.

It is obvious that modern technologies can be a double-edged weapon. They have their

advantages but with many inventions, they can completely change the lives of

individuals, for better or worst. Also the researcher recommends that everyone must

work for the interest of social connection to preserve people’s feelings toward each

other away from the addiction to technology. Finally the researcher recommends how

simply a little efforts towards doing justice to this subject and it could assist future

researchers in examining this topic with other groups and in more depth and with more

relationships to the present use of technologies and their impacts in the societies.
