Altronic II is an alternator-powered, capac~ta:r dis-
charge ignition system for 3 to 20 cylinder~ 2 or 4-
cycle, low speed, high BMEP engines. Powered!
from a 12-pole permanent magnet alternator,
Altronic II provides supe.rior performance
throughout the engine's operating range. lts ba.-
sic design features • permanent magnet ~a~ltemai'
tor; easi ly serviced, removable back c~r>ver
containing all electronics; and simple, rre~iablle
electronic circuitry • have made Altronic ~~ fue
standard of the industry on large, slow speedl in-
dustrial gas engines.
Mechanical design is consistent with the IO.Ft9J ~ife
inherent in the· electronic circuitry. Seafe.dl baU
bearings are used throughout. Gears drive only
the distributor magnet assembly. The alternator
has a smooth rotating cycle and flexible coupling
which contribute to prolonged bearing and gear
life.
Complete Altronic II ignition systems include the
Altronic II unit, harness and a choice of three
ignition coils: unshielded, shielded and integral.
Altronic also offe.rs a complete selection of
shielded primary and spark plug lead assem-
blies. Altronic II can directly mount to most base
mount magneto drives and to the standard SAE
flange configuration. Available· drive adaptors al-
low easy replacement of other older systems.
