Setting and Constellation

 Business Interpreting
A mediated contact to speak in different languages between communities who are
doing business for trading. Commonly, this interpreting process is used in Business
meeting.
 Liaison Interpreting
Henri van Hoof (1962) mention liaison interpreting as a form of interpreting
practiced mainly in commercial negotiations. It used at meetings or business
lunches/dinners.
 military interpreting
Is used in diplomatic situation to talk with allies, truce negotiations or interrogation
of prisoners.
 Court Interpreting
The interpreter has to works with the court system to provide language interpretation
for those who do not speak fluent in the target language.
 Educational Interpreting
This interpreting refers to facilitation in all educational settings where learning takes
place such as in social rehabilitation.

R. Bruce W. Anderson (1976/2002) modeled the prototypical constellation interpreting as


three-party interaction, with a (bilingual) interpreter assuming the pivotal mediating role
between two (monolingual) clients. This is commonly referred to as Bilateral interpreting.
