So first of all I wil tell you about my exchange experience in Slovakia on this july 2019.
In Slovakia, I lived in Bratislava the capital city of Slovakia. I stayed in the student dormitory
and I was selected in general surgery department in Nemocnica rusinov in Slovakia. From
Monday to Friday I went to the hospital at 7 am and spent 5 – 7 hours in the hospital, but not
usually 5 - 7 hours because it depends how many surgeries on that day. The common cases in
my department is cholecystitis.
In the operation theatre, I watched the surgery and the doctor who did the surgery
explained me what they did, what happened to the patient, and they teach us how to do the
operation, example the doctor explained me how to do laparoscopy, what instruments they
used. Usually when I’ve got back to the dorm from the hospital, I went to the city centre to
have lunch. Usually in the afternoon there’s social program.
And the social programs implemented by the contact persons in Slovakia are very
exciting! Like we’re played laser game, went to a country adjacent to Slovakia with the
incomings together, and many more! Because of the social program, I was able to getting know
one and other person from various countries and I can learn their culture and habits in their
country.
And this exchange programs I feel that I can compare the health care system in
Indonesia and abroad, and also I feel that I have many connections, especially with medical
students from abroad. In my opinion this program is very interesting to follow! because of the
program can make you become more independent, add insight, add freiends, etc.
