My philosophy for teaching is very simply a way that I hope to run my classroom and

teach my students. To be an effective teacher for my students, I will explain my expectations

very clearly, focus on my students' learning, and adjust my teaching in a way that will benefit all

my students. My students will have clear directions when it comes to assignments and are

expected to complete assignments that are given to them in the time frame provided. What I

focus my teaching on will depend on my students' learning habits, my curriculum, and where my

teaching attention needs to be directed. I will identify positive learning habits and reward those

students who are making strides towards achieving the learning targets for our classroom.

I will teach in a variety of different methods一including but not limited to一classroom

discussion, group and individual projects, small group learning, lectures, video presentations, and

games. I will try to make time for my students to do their assigned homework in class. This will

give them the opportunity to ask me for help on anything they do not understand. I will move

fairly quickly through the concepts in which my students are more accomplished, and will spend

more time with my students on concepts that are more difficult for them. I believe that a student

works well in a hands-on environment, as well as being included in discussions about said topic.

I will structure my tests based on what we learn in class, as well as some opinion

questions about the current topic. I will give my students multiple chances to prove they know

the material. My tests will not always look like a traditional test, and I will test my students using

a variety of different methods. We will also have to participate in nationwide standardized

testing throughout the year on which I will base some of my lessons. My expectations for my

students will be high, but overall, achievable.

I believe in disciplining my students if they are not putting in the work to be successful in

my classroom. I will try and be flexible with my teaching methods, but overall will have to grade
a student on their work and effort. I won't use a traditional grading method, and my students will

have multiple chances to receive an acceptable score on assignments. I will allow my class to

help direct my lessons, and we will expand on subjects that interest them. With that being said,

my students will also be taught the basic learning goals that I have laid out for them. I will

include parents in my teachings to help my class have the option to ask their parents for help on

take-home assignments. Parents will know my expectations for their child and will hopefully

help in the development of the student’s learning. I will create a safe environment for my class to

learn freely, and focus on being a teacher that my students can come to if they need help.

My ultimate goal as a teacher is to have my students know the basics that they will need

in life as well as the expanded knowledge of subjects that interest them. I will act as a guide for

my student’s learning, and I will hopefully help my students achieve their learning goals as well

as the goals I have presented them with.
