Mitchell Jennings Continuity Task Evaluation

Production

One of the very big problems we faced during filming was the weather. We knew that the change in
weather would have a big impact on the continuity and flow of the film, so we were forced to halt
the filming process while it was raining. The way we overcame this obstacle was simply making up
the time for filming during lunch periods.

With the limited time we were allocated to film, some of the shots we wanted were rather difficult
to capture. We had to make do with some of the shots that weren’t perfect, and later edited them
to work in post. We found that many of the shots that were too shaky, too bright, etc. were an easy
fix later.

We had a problem with the camera tripod on the last day of filming, we simply could get the sliding
plate onto the tripod and it made filming very difficult for us. We made do with the half-attached
camera and straightened up the shots manually by tilting the tripod in all kinds of ways.

Post-Production

One of the shots we had for the film, when the camera spins around to reveal the party, was much
too shaky and didn’t look good. We amended this by cutting the clip and splicing it with another
which made it look seamless and much better.

We had a problem with a scene which got very dark very quickly and we managed to keyframe some
lighting to gradually light up the scene and it turned out very well. We also had a shot which was
very blurry; we ended up blurring and darkening the image even more to give it a very sinister look,
and we were very happy with the result.

Continuity

Filming took place over the course of a few days, so we would be wearing different clothes. We
thought about this and made sure to bring the same clothes for our characters each day, so we
wouldn’t cause any continuity errors there.

Most of the continuity errors, such as Misha standing up suddenly, was solved by cutting scenes
shorter and splicing them with other scenes. We were able to use the scene of Misha standing up
later, so it wasn’t such a sudden jump, and it turned out much smoother.
