SELF-POTRAIT
During my school days I had, a not so big fear but yes, a fear which is now a part of my career. I
was a “back stage” kind of person and I never wanted to address people at large as I had the fear
of being judged. One fine day, during the regular class my English teacher told everyone to read
out their essay on the topic “Education Policies in India”, my friend who was sitting behind me
started to read her essay and on the same time my hands started to sweat as the next turn was of
mine. My legs started to shiver I was so nervous that I was able to feel my dry throat. I took a sip
of water and stood up and started to read the essay, my legs were still shivering but I continued.
While I was reading my teacher stopped me and said that I have a wonderful voice and I am
selected for the “Inter Declamation Competition” I was so surprised, this was not what I was
expecting at all.

This event which happened, is like a turning point of my life. This has boosted unlimited
confidence inside me. The fear of speaking infront of the people is vanished. Last year, I took part
in “Internal Moot Court Competition” organized by my college in which my team scored a rank
of 12th among 108 teams. Moreover, the judges gave a positive feedback about my presentation
during the competition. So, the lesson which I learnt is that never be sacred of being judged,
express your views, be confident and give your best. Rest everything will fall into place.
