 What are Bricks?


The bricks are obtained by moulding clay in rectangular blocks of
uniform size and then drying and burning this blocks

Different types of Bricks.


- First Class
- Second Class
- Third Class
- Fourth Class

In market two types of bricks are available.


- Kiln Dry
- Fly Ash

 Kiln Dry Bricks


-These bricks are table moulded and of standard shape and they are
burnt in kilns. The surfaces and edges of bricks are sharp, square,
smooth and straight. These bricks are used for superior work.

 Fly Ash Bricks


-The fly ash brick is fairly divide residue which results from the
combustion of ground or powdered bituminous coal like lignite
and transported by flue gas of boilers fired by pulverized
coal.
On burning nearly 30% of coal is converted into ash, 75% of
which is fie fly ash and rest is coarse bottom ash.

Avaibility of Bricks
We can get bricks from Traders, Manufacturer and Cartings.
We can also directly buy from factories.

Manufacture of Bricks.
- It should be linked up with communicating roads so
that the materials can be conveyed easily.
- It should be situated on the plain ground.
- It should be so selected that earth for manufacturing
good quality bricks are readily and easily available.
- It should offer all the facilities to the workers and
employed in manufacturing process.

Following processes are involved in manufacturing.


1. Preparation of clay
2. Moulding
3. Drying
4. Burning

Sizes of Bricks.

-The Kiln dry bricks are available in 9*4*3 inchs.


-The Fly ash bricks are available around in 9*4*3 inchs.

Rates of Bricks.

The bulk upto 1000 bricks cost rs 6 per each brick and the
bulk upto 4000 to 5000 cost rs 5.50 per each bricks
Their rates are according to pieces or unit.
Bricks are sold on kg.

Trasportation of Bricks.
Bricks can be transported through trucks, tractors, tempo
and auto rickshaw also.

Rickshaw carries bulk of 200 bricks.


Diesel tempo carries bulk of 400 bricks.
Tractor carries bulk of 2000 bricks.
Truck carries bulk of 5000 bricks and

Uses of Bricks.

- The bricks are used for all sorts of sound work


especially for permanent nature like buildings, dams,
roads, sewers, bridge, tunnels etc.
- The bricks are generally plastered to make the
smooth surfaces obtained due to irregular shapes.
- The bricks are used for construction work of
temporary nature. The bricks are not used in damp
situation.
- The bricks are also used as road metal and as
aggregate I the foundation concrete.
