    I recently started using MPC in place of SMplayer and quite like it except for how it pauses as soon as
    you click on the window. I've been through the options and did not see a place to turn this off.
    Am I missing something? Or is there really no way to change this behaviour?

    yes, go to

    View > options > "keys" tab


    scroll down to "Play/Pause" and the last column will be "left‐down"
    change it to nothing ﴾blank﴿
