A simply supported beam of 5500 mm length supports unfactored concentrated load at point B and
unfactored uniformly distributed load along span AB at figure above.
Given the following data:

 Characteristic strength of concrete, fcu = 30 N/mm2


 Characteristic strength of reinforcement, fy = 460 N/mm2
 Exposure condition = mild
 Fire resistance =1.5 hours
 Diameter of main bar = 20 mm
 Link diameter = 8 mm
 Size of beam = 250 mm x 550 mm
 Density of concrete = 24 kN/m3

i) Draw the bending moment and shear force diagram for beam AB.
ii) Calculate the number of reinforcement bars required at beam AB.
