Question:1
Was there a leader? Who was it & Who decided who the leader would be?
Answer: There was no leader in our team nor anyone proposed to be. All members divided tasks
among themselves. The ones who thought are better at taping spaghetti together took that task for
themselves, one took responsibility of cutting tape and providing to those joining spaghetti, all
were sharing ideas as to how we should go about it and best was adopted by mutual agreement.
Question:2
If you had no leader, do you think having designating someone a leader would have
helped?
Answer: No. Having a designated leader would have blocked the ideas of the rest and also
would have demotivated rest who had different ideas to solve it. But yes, at first because of
absence of any leader we were clueless as to how we should start and all were pouring in ideas to
where to start from. Then one of the members saw the other team's model and suggested to start
off like them. All members agreed and accordingly divided tasks, more of helped each other to
reach the final goal which was to make tallest standing model.
Question:3
If you had a leader, How did he do?
Answer: We had no leader.
Question:4
How helpful was everyone on your team? Did anyone appear to be an expert?
Answer: Everyone was helpful. Two took initiative for joining spaghetti with tapes and two
were holding spaghetti to achieve this goal. One was cutting tape and providing it to those who
needed it. No member was an expert but overall all contributed ideas for solutions. The
idea/suggestion which was agreed upon by majority was usually implemented. If it did not work
out well, some changes were made to it after learning from experience or doing it according to
second best suggestion.
2
Question:5
Did any member tune out of the activity- out of frustration with other members or for some
other reason? What could you have done to keep all members of the group fully engaged?
Answer: No. Everyone was interested in the activity and enjoyed it thoroughly. Due to time
constraint every team member was focused to complete the task in the best possible way. There
was not much obvious frustration.
Question: 6
Did you feel everyone’s ideas were well-received during the activity?
Answer: Yes. Everyone’s ideas were well received. Team Members showed the capacity to get
along and go about. Everyone proposed their ideas and the best ones were chosen with the
consent of everyone. It was a combined effort nevertheless.
Question: 7
How did you feel as the time limit was approaching? Did pressure increase? If yes, was that
helpful or not?
Answer: We utilized our time effectively and completed our task before the time limit. Since it
was a teamwork and every member was contributing, we faced little problem regarding the time
constraint.
Question: 8
In retrospect, what could you have done better to enhance your ability to challenge the
process?
Answer: Everything was done perfectly, as we made the spaghetti tower that could stand on its
own with three marshmallows. The only way we could have improved would be by giving more
time to the planning phase in order to get the best results in lesser time. If we had spent some
time in pre implementation phase, we could have been saved from the repercussions.
Question: 9
Did you practice outsight? Where might new ideas have come from given your time
constraint.
Answer: Yes. In the beginning we started building the tower with the ideas given by the group
members. But then we realized that the tower could not stand on its own. Due to the
3
unavailability of phones or internet access, we observed what the fellow groups were doing.
Thus, we realized that the base of the tower should be more strong. After building the tower with
the idea taken from peer groups our tower not only stood on its own with first marshmallow, but
with two more marshmallows as well. It was our outsight and adaptability that helped us in
taking in other’s ideas to form a sustainable model.
Question: 10
Did you celebrate small wins? If yes, how did you do this?
Answer: Yes, we did celebrate small wins. For example after putting the first marshmallow on
top, we checked if the tower could stand on its own on the floor, and when it did stand, every
group member was quite happy. We took a picture with it and showed it to the teacher. Every
member was really happy when the second marshmallow was fixed and soon the excitement rose
as the third marshmallow was given to us. And when the tower stood on its own on the ground
with three marshmallows, everyone congratulated each other and appreciated the teamwork.
