Indonesia is a country with a vast history and culture. Batik is a very


prominent and celebrated Indonesian fabric that is very intricate to
produce. Batik is both an art and a craft, which is becoming more
popular and well known in the West as a wonderfully creative medium.
The art of decorating cloth in this way, using wax and dye, has been
practised for centuries.

Kanjengan batik is made by a royal family in solo and it has been passed
down from generation to generation. The family uses unique technique
to make batik and has a secret recipe of natural dye that they use for the
dyeing process of their batik. This has been the best kept family secret.

Sahid singgih, a fashion and fabric designer, who from a very young age,
has had the passion of creating traditional Indonesian designs using
varied materials from all over indonesia. He is working together with
Kanjengan incorporating different designs and techniques of fabric
making to create batik

Indonesian inspired drawings and designs from sabang to marauke, also


incorporating the different techniques that different provinces use to
make an exquisite collection of batik

This event collaborates two celebrated Indonesian Cultural heritage of


Batik and traditional patterns, techniques and designs from all over
Indonesia fused into beautiful batik fabrics. This collaboration not only
creates batik but teaches young designers, batik makers and creators to
incorporate designs and techniques and method from other parts of
Indonesia to create a batik fabric.

On Batik day on October 2, 2019 at
Jalan Pandegelang no. 22, Menteng, Jakarta Pusat
at 4:00 pm.
