ABOUT

I am a writer, visual artist and environmental activist with a background linking arts,
politics, science and theology. Holding a Scientific Baccalaureate with a specialisation in Biology,
a BA in Comparative Literature with Film Studies from King’s College London and a MSc in
Global Governance and Ethics from UCL with a specialisation in Environmental Politics, I have
throughout diverse personal, academic and professional experiences developed a strong interest
in forwarding social change through artistic means, by exploring the depths and complexities of
the human condition through theological, historical and psychological perspectives.

My work mainly draws on themes of environmental, political and social issues through
a poetic and magical vision, yet deeply raw and anchored in everyday moments of reality. I
am especially passionate about intersecting art, science and religion through the spectrum of
memory, psychology and historical myths.

I am particularly influenced by the filmic works of Andrei Tarkovsky, Robert Bresson,

James Benning, Agnès Varda, Jonas Mekas, Hayao Miyazaki and the Safdie brothers. My literary
influences include the works of Yukio Mishima, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Marguerite Yourcenar,
Vladimir Mayakovsky, Paul Eluard, Hermann Hesse and Leonora Carrington. I am furthermore
deeply inspired by the painters Odilon Redon, Anselm Kiefer and Francis Bacon. The theories of
Carl Gustav Jung, Guy Debord, Giorgio Agamben and Jacques Rancière also significantly impact
my work and vision.

STILLS
I am particularly interested in exploring
symmetry, lines and movements, as well as the
surreal and poetic aspect of everyday life that
confer a sense of sacredness to the everyday.

I like to play with different types of

supports, interchanging between the digital,
polaroid and film. I furthermore navigate
between the use of black and white and the
use of colour depending on the movement
and context of the scene. I reckon that while
colour offers sharp vibrancy to a picture, it
can also distract the eye from the essence of
the movement and symmetry that composes
the frame.

PAINTINGS AND
POEMS
Painting and poetry often go along in my work. Both appeal to the
imaginative in different yet interconnected ways: while poetry invites the reader
to picture words, painting illustrates poetically states , atmospheres and feelings
going beyond the limits of language.

Several of the following works have been undertaken as part of the

interdisciplinary award ‘A Beautiful Mind: Art, science and mental health’, reflecting
on mental illness in connection to creativity. In these works, I have especially
engaged with perceptions of social anxiety in connection to outward stimulations,
through a specific focus on colour and forms.

Flying above

Like when you had
enough with nothing.

36
A thousand dogs barking
at the door.
They don’t want to open;
Just punch.

Retain, retain
The wind chaotically submerging
Each of your smallest
Cavities
Threatens to flood over the body.

Yet
Out-
Side,
The air is not as cold
As you’d like to think.
See, the external sound of silence
is warming you up.

Attain, attain
You know you can;
From painful paradoxes always
Emerges
The panacea of resilience.
