Favorite Chill Spots on Campus

By Fajr Abdul Azeez
Has an off-campus student it is harder to have a break in between classes because I am unable to
go back to my room. I could drive back to my apartment, but the chances of me finding a park in
the afternoon on campus are slim to none. So when I have a huge break I have a few favorite
spots I like to go to before my next class. Some schools have the same amenities, so this list can
apply to different colleges.

1. The Student Center

The Student Center is a big building with many seating areas and rooms where a person
is able to chill out and maybe even get some work done.
I like the student center because I am able to see my friends who stay on-campus. They
are always in the student center chilling or playing a game in the recreation room. It is good to
see them and to check up with each other.

2. The 1891 Bistro

The 1891 Bistro is a restaurant right outside of the student center that my friends like to
go to since we no longer eat at the cafe. The Bistro is nicely decorated and has a chill atmosphere
when it is not too crowded.
These recent school weeks I have been at The Bistro many times and it is nice to sit down
and eat instead of rushing to eat a Chic-fil-a sandwich. Since I have so much time to eat I might
as well take my time.

3. The Library
The library has been my favorite hangout spot since I was a college freshman. It has
always been a place of relaxation to me that I really can’t get anywhere else on campus. The
library has comfortable chairs and a quiet atmosphere. When I go here in between classes it is
just a nice area to watch a show or maybe even read a book from the shelves.
4. Student Lounge
Some academic buildings have student lounges where students can sit and relax while
waiting for class. I will usually go to a lounge when my break is no greater than an hour. These
lounges sometimes have a television in them. I would watch whatever is on which is usually the
news. I appreciate this time because I never watch the news or cable in my apartment. Student
lounges to me are a place to recharge as you wait for the next class. Being surrounded by other
students who also trying to recharge gives me a little energy. Just knowing that we are all going
through the same struggle as college students lets me know that I can get through the day.

Being on campus can be rough. It is important that being on campus doesn’t become a drag
because then this might result in skipping class. Finding a place on campus that you find
comforting may change your negative view of being on campus. College campuses have hidden
gems that can be relaxing for some. When you have a break in between classes, take some time
to explore the campus and you might just find your favorite chill spot.
