Intentions/objectives: What do you want children to learn or know

• Create meaning as to why they do the acknowledgement of country each day.
• Acknowledge the importance of being respectful and honouring Aboriginal people.

Learning experiences to be implemented: By whom:

I will read the book “I’m Australian Too” when we do group time at bush kinder. Once finished we
will have a discussion regarding ways we can respect aboriginal people, their land and animals. We
will then do our acknowledgment of country.

Rationale (reason for plan, how does the experience meet the intention):

This lesson will take place at bush kinder, it will give children a basic representation of what they
are saying when they talk about promising to look after the land when they do their
acknowledgement of country. The discussion highlights the importance of showing respect and
how we can do this, children will be required to brainstorm ideas and share where willing.
