there is no need for them to parasitize other organsms.
In fact, if they invade another organism, chances are they won't be able to photosynthesize
due to lack of light, and they will simply die from starvation.
Algae are more independent since they are autotrophs, whereas fungi and many bacteria
are heterotrophic and depend on ready made organic molecules - eg. pathogens being
parasitic on the host and causing disease.
Fungi and bacteria live off of things similar and identical to ourselves. Algae are
plants.
