I. OBJECTIVES
- To compile multiple line source codes that generate Frequency Shift Keyed
signals by using MATLAB software.
- To observe and describe the characteristics of a Frequency Shift Keyed signal
when its bit rate, frequency, amplitude and carrier signal are varied.
II. DISCUSSION
FSK modulation assigns different frequencies to each information signal status. On the
receiving side it is passed through a circuit that determines differences in the frequency of the
received signal and obtains the original information signal. FSK uses a modulator to shift the
frequency of the carrier wave proportionally to the level of the digital signal, which is the
information signal. However, a digital signal has only two statuses, 0 and 1, and so a high
frequency F1 is assigned to signal 1 and a low frequency F0 is assigned to signal 0 in relation to
the center frequency Fc of the carrier wave.
III. PROCEDURES
1. Compile a set of source codes that generates an FSK waveform by utilizing the
MATLAB software.
2. Modify the amplitude along with the frequency of FSK waveform in to three distinct
acceptable values.
3. Observe and describe the characteristics of the waveforms generated.
4. Modify the characteristic of the carrier signal into various trigonometric functions.
5. Observe and describe the characteristics of the waveforms generated.
6. Modify the bit time to produce three different numerical values of bit rate.
7. Observe and describe the characteristics of the waveforms generated.
