Narrative Report on the Buwan ng Wika Celebration

Pursuant to DepEd Memorandum No. 58, s. 2017, public as well as private schools are
advised to partake in the celebration of the Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa 2017 starting from
August 1 – August 31. The theme, “Filipino: Wikang Mapagbago aims to have a full
implementation of Executive Proclamation No. 1041, s. 1997, to invite public and private
agencies to take part in such programs that widens one’s perspective on Filipino language and
civic affairs, and to involve the masses in valuing and appreciating the Filipino language through
an active participation in different Buwan ng Wika related activities.

The Buwan ng Wika celebration of Sta. Cruz Elementary School was said to be a
memorable and joyous one. With the coordinator’s initiation of activities, it included the
following: Poster and Slogan Making Contest, Essay Making Contest, Poem Recitation Contest,
Story Telling Contest, Singing Contest, Beat Box and Rap Contest, Broadcasting Contest,
Declamation Contest, Fiesta sa Nayon and Lakan at Lakambini. Such activities were actively
and willingly participated by the teachers, pupils, parents, and stakeholders. From the very start
of the activity which was the Poster and Slogan and Essay making contest, pupils have shown
their eagerness in sharing with others their talents and abilities. They have made both their
parents and teachers proud with their significant and creative outputs. With the Poem
Recitation, Storytelling and Singing contests from Kindergarten to Grades I to III, every pupil
have proven how good and brilliant they were. Parents were also excited with the contest proper
and the result. The Beat Box and Rap, Broadcasting and Declamation have also showcased the
surprising potentials of the Grades III, IV and VI pupils. They have done something
extraordinary. They have done something they could not even think they can do before. The
most awaited Fiesta sa Nayon was one of the highlighted events. With the full support of the
parents and pupils, each grade level had built unique and beautifully adorned Bahay – Kubos.
They have prepared also palatable menus and dishes which were presented in a Boodle Fight
way. The Fiesta sa Nayon was held in a contest and stakeholders were invited to serve as
judges. Cash awards, certificates and consolation prizes were given to the teachers and
parents. Such festive occasion was truly captivating as it depicted the true spirit and essence of
celebrating a FIESTA. The Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa 2017 culminated with the Search for
Lakan at Lakambini. It was a parade of different Filipino costumes from the National Filipino
costume to the tribal ones. Such search not only made such a wonderful experience but it had
shown the artistry of the parents behind. Of course, to complete the search, a question and
answer portion has to go in the way and the Lakan and Lakambini 2017 was crowned.

The Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa 2017 was a successful celebration. The various
activities had created such a great contribution in the lives of the teachers, pupils and parents
as well. It had also taught everybody how happy and nice it is to be a Filipino and how amazing
it is to have a Filipino language which everybody could be proud of.
