Traditional Games in Leyte

The study attempts to identify and describe the unpublished traditional games in

Leyte, to develop a guide on how to play the games. The researchers specifically

identified the fundamental characteristics of each game namely: the background, the

players, the materials used in the game, the preparation before the game, and the

mechanics. It also identified the values present in the games studied based on the

DepEd Values Education Framework. A guide on playing the traditional games in Leyte

was made as an output of the study. The guide consists of 12 games which are

described accordingly based on the fundamental characteristics of the games, the

fitness component development, the play skills development, the emotional-social

development, and the values present in the games.

Unity

Based on the article stated in the website, Unity gives users the ability to create

games in both 2D and 3D, and it offers a primary scripting API in C# (What’s new in

Unity, 2017). The said engine support the following graphics APIs: Direct 3D on

Windows and Xbox One; OpenGL on Linux, macOS, and Windows; OpenGL ES on

Android and iOS; WebGL on the web; and proprietary APIs on the video game consoles.

Furthermore, Unity supports the low-level APIs Metal iOS and macOS and Vulkan on

Android, Linux, and Windows, as well as Direct3D 12 on windows and Xbox One (Krogh-

Jacobsen 2018).

Android Application Package (APK)

The Android API is the code that makes it really easy to do exceptional things. A

simple analogy could be drawn with a machine, perhaps a car. When you step on the
accelerator, a whole bunch of things happen under the hood. We don't need to

understand about combustion or fuel pumps because a smart engineer has provided an

interface for us. In this case, a mechanical interface—the accelerator pedal (Horton,

2015).

However, once you learn that this single line of code searches for the available

satellites and then communicates with them in orbit around the Earth while retrieving

your precise latitude and longitude on the planet, it is easy to begin to glimpse the power

and depth of the Android API in conjunction with the DVM. Even if that code does look a

little challenging at the moment, imagine talking to a satellite in some other way (Horton,

2015).

Photoshop CS6

Adobe Photoshop is a raster graphics editor developed by Adobe Systems for

mac OS and Windows. Hence, it can edit and compose raster images in multiple layers

and supports masks, alpha compositing and several color models including RGB,

CMYK, CIELAB, spot color and duotone (Snider, 2019).

According to Lesa Snider (2019), Photoshop CS6 is bursting with amazing

feature the users can use that will help to edit and create own digital masterpieces.

Based to the chapter, solid foundation on which to build the respective Photoshop skills.

They’ll learn how to work with application frame and how to wrangle document windows

and panels.

Fishbone Diagram

The Fishbone/Cause and Effect Diagram (also known as the Ishikawa Diagram)

is a graphical tool used to identify and organize the possible contributing factors/causes

to a (care delivery) problem. When utilizing a team approach to problem solving, there

are often many opinions re: the problem’s root cause(s). In addition, because people by

nature often like to jump to determining what to do about a problem, use of the Fishbone
Diagram can help promote a more thorough exploration of the issues behind the

problem – which will lead to a more robust solution. The Fishbone Diagram provides an

effective tool to capture these different ideas and stimulate a team’s brainstorming on

root causes (Walsh-Kelly, 2016)

Android Studio

Based on the website, the Android Studio is the official Integrated Development

Environment (IDE) for Android application development. According to the website, in all

powerful code editor and developer tools, Android Studio offers even more features that

enhance your productivity when building android applications, the followings are include

in feature of Android Studio, such as the flexibility of Gradle-based build system, a fast

and feature-rich emulator, a unified environment where you can develop for all android

devices, an instant run to push changes to your running applications without building a

new APK, the code templates and GitHub integration to help you build common

application features and import sample code, the extensive testing tools and

frameworks, a lint tools to catch performance, usability, version compatibility, and other

problems, the inclusion of C++ and NDK support , and lastly, the built-in support for

Google Cloud

Traditional Games

It is an activity that has characteristics such as satire, intelligence, mobility which

are found in the folk culture and played collectively in the times when the feature is

limited and the possibility of entertainment is limited (Gülşah, 2018).

3D Technology

As emerging technologies appear on the horizon of education every day, they

are changing the world of teaching and research continuously with their adoption and

integration into libraries, classrooms and research labs. Most of us are familiar with the

libraries inside a lab, but hosting a lab inside a library holds tremendous potential for
research and instruction. In this paper, we will feature a successful effort of integrating

3D technology and a visualization wall in the Marston Science Library at the University of

Florida. We will describe how 3D printing was achieved and will highlight the benefit of

the technologies related to the data visualization wall as well as recent 3D models made

at the library used for research and teaching. The paper will also describe the lessons

learned such as the challenges of maintaining these technologies staffing, maintenance,

and environmental health and safety requirements (Bharti N. & Gonzalez S., 2015).

Use Case Diagram

The use case diagram describes relationships between users and use cases. A

use case is a (usually high - level) user activity in the system. When it comes to drawing

use case diagrams one area have many struggles in showing various relationships, in

fact many tend to be confused, (Creatly, 2015).

A use case diagram should capture the functional system components. It

embosses the business processes within the system. While traversing the system,

proponents can learn significant system attributes in the diagram. Simply because use

case diagram are simple in nature like a great way to storyboard flows with users and

also define the system being modeled and write the scenarios later used in testing,

(Levy, 2008).

C# Programming Language

C# is a general object-oriented programming (OOP) language for networking and

Web development. C# is specified as a common language infrastructure (CLI) language.

In January 1999, Dutch software engineer Anders Hejlsberg formed a team to

develop C# as a complement to Microsoft’s NET framework. Initially, C# was developed

as C-Like Object Oriented Language (Cool). The actual name was changed to avert

potential trademark issues. In January 2000, NET was released as C#. Its NET

framework promotes multiple Web technologies.

Sack Race

You remember. You stuck your right leg in a burlap sack and your uncle stuck his

left leg in the same sack—together you feverishly hopped toward the glory of the finish

line at the family reunion. Well the sack race is back!

There are numerous variations to sack racing rules. Here are just a few

suggestions for you—but half of the fun of these games is putting your own spin on the

rules! So get out there and be creative!

Gantt Chart

A Gantt Chart according to shelly and Rosenblatt (2009) is a chart that is a

horizontal bar chart represents a series of tasks. This Chart is commonly used in an IT

project due to its effectiveness in the work. The chart display time on horizontal axis and

arranges the task vertically. This usually has a start point and end point per task (Ralph,

2015).

Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

Software Development Life Cycle (in short SDLC) is a workflow process which

defines the core stages and activities of development cycles. It can be used by system

analysts, designer and developers to plan and implement the application and deliver the

system or products on time and within the budget. With numerous of development

methodologies. It is never an easy task to choose an appropriate strategy that

sometimes even it is inevitable to mix-and-match multiple methodologies to fit in a single

project.

Software Development Life Cycle consists of details steps and activities which

describes how to design, develop, maintain, replace, after, enhance, test or even launch

a software. The activities can be broken down into very detail level but at the same time,

they can be grouped in five ( 5 ) core categories: Plan, Design, Develop, Test and

Deploy. (Ting, Tiky, 2016).

Mobile Application

Mobile Application Development refers to the process of making application

software for handheld devices such as mobile phones and Personal Digital Assistants.

Through the usage of mobile apps, the user is provided with various features that will

enable him to fulfill all his needs and much more. Apps should be interactive to the

users. Apps can be downloaded from various platforms such as Google Play Store and

iOS App Store. There are free apps as well as paid apps. Some apps can be used for

free for a specific amount of time before subscribing for premium membership. For apps

with a price, about 20%-30% goes to the distribution provider(Example-iTunes) and the

rest to the producer of the app(Baktha,2017).

Luksong Tinik

Luksong tinik is a Filipino version of a High Jump where a pair of players will

serve as a tinik (a Tagalog word for ‘thorns’). A tinik serves as the level of how high other

players will jump over it. The main goal of the game is to jump high as you can without

touching the thorns that will oust you from the game.

Tumbang Preso

Just like patintero, tumbang preso is another way of playing tag. But this time you

just need a pair of slippers and a tin can. Players can be composed of 5 people and

one IT. The goal of the players is to stumble the tin can being protected by the IT. Once

stumbled, the IT has to put the can in place and try to tag the next IT by tagging the

nearest slipper inside his circle. Other player has to get their slippers before the IT put

the can in place which creates the thrill in the game.

PowerPoint

The PowerPoint program provides tool you can use to build presentation that

include graphics, charts, video, sound, animation, and an assortment of ways to

transition from slide to slide. It provides various views to create, organize, view and

display your presentation. Many start in backstage view. (Boyd, 2016)

Educational Games

Educational games are needed to teach science in an effective manner. In this

dissertation, first I present a review of the relevant literature. I then present my research

methodology and finally present the findings based on the data analysis. One main goal

is to determine whether games could be used as an effective tool to improve learning.

The second is to determine whether the specific features of challenge and fantasy are

important features of an effective instructional game, and find out empirically whether,

and if so, how these game features enhance learning.

Visual Studio

Visual Studio, also known as Microsoft Visual Studio and VS, is an integrated

development environment for Microsoft Windows. It is a tool for writing computer

programs, websites, web apps, and web services. It includes a code

editor, debugger, GUI design tool, and database schema designer, and supports most

major revision control systems. It is available in both a free "Community" edition as well

as a paid commercial version.

Blender

Blender is the free and open source 3D creation suite. It supports the entirety of

the 3D pipeline—modeling, rigging, animation, simulation, rendering, compositing and

motion tracking, video editing and 2D animation pipeline.

Blender was originally proprietary software developed in the mid 90's by Ton

Roosendaal for his animation company. Unfortunately, the company was shut down by

investors in early 2002, resulting in Ton losing the ownership of Blender. Later that year,

Ton founded a non-profit organization called the Blender Foundation and successfully

raised a total of 100,000 EUR in only seven weeks to convince the former company
investors to agree on open sourcing Blender. On Sunday, October 13, 2002, Blender

was released to the world under the terms of the GNU General Public License. Blender

development has continued to thrive since that day, driven by an ever-growing team of

dedicated volunteers from around the world led by Blender's original creator, Ton

Roosendaal.
