MASTERS ESTONIA

ANNUAL REPORT 2017-2018

Cross-country skiing is very popular in Estonia. Organization of seniors skiers -


Estonian Masters Cross-Country Ski Association starts at1994. Today we have about
280 active members from 21 clubs.

We cooperate with Estonian Ski Association and Estonian Seniorsport and Sport
Veteran`s Association.

In the season 2017/2018 in Estonia take place 18 competitions there have categories
for Masters, of them are more popular Estonian long distance cross- country skiing
series- Estoloppet , there are 6 different cross- country ski marathons. Of our most
important events for Masters – Tartu Ski Marathon participate 850 Estonian master
skiers

The National Championship for Masters are held at 10th March 2018 at Jõulumäe –
classic style and relay, all together89 participants, distances 3, 5 and 10km.

At Minneapolis MWC took part 5 Estonian athletes, they win 8 medals, of them: 4
cold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medal,

The National Championship for Masters 2019 find place 23 th March 2019 at
Alutaguse Puhke-ja Spordikeskus

MTÜ KLUBI TARTU MARATON would like to apply for organizing rights
for MASTERS WORLD CUP 2023

MTÜ Tartu Maraton club is non govermental organisation established in 1991. The main target
is to carry out large popular events, among offers also Tartu Maraton, a ski race with 10 000
partcipants and member of Wordloppet. in addition to the ski marathon they annually organise
Tartu Jooksumaraton(trail run), Tartu Rattaralli(road race), Tartu Rulluisumaraton(inline
skating), Tartu Rattamaraton(MTB marathon) and Tartu Linnamaraton(city marathon)
The philosophy of all the other events is based on the ideology of the ski marathon. Every year
ca 40 000 people take part in these six events.

In addition to organising the mass sport events, the team of Klubi Tartu Maraton has been
actively involved in organising the several high level competitions. Their employees have had
the key roles in the organizing team of the FIS World Cup in Otepää between 1999 –
2012. In 2004 and 2015 club organised the UEC Road European Championships and in 2009
the MTB European Championships.

Their main co-operation partner in carrying out the Masters World Cup would be the SA
Tehvandi Spordikeskus, which is a state owned foundation managing the best ski centre in the
Baltics known as venue of the World Cup events – Tehvandi Sports Center:
http://www.tehvandi.ee/?Lang=eng&ver=2 . In this centre there is a network of ski tracks, which
is fully homologated according to the FIS requirements. Every winter out of this network 3-5 km
loop will also be covered with artificial snow. Although the usual level of the tracks in Tehvandi
exceed the requirements of the Masters World Cup,
In the Otepää area, 500m – 12km from the venue, there are approximately 2500
accomodation places in different properties from country houses to SPA hotels.

The application of Klubi Tartu Maraton is supported by Estonian Ski Federation, Estonian
Ministry of Culture and Otepää municipality.
