General Information

A. Proponents
The proponents of the project entitled "Street Painting" were
conducted by the students of BSMA 1201 of Batangas State University -
Lemery Campus. The project was conducted at Brgy. Sambal Ilaya , Lemery,
Batangas last April 4,209 until May 16, 2019 with the coordination of Ms.
Lalaine A. Contreras, NSTP instructor and Brgy. Captain Liezl Arandia of
Brgy. Sambal Ilaya, Lemery, Batangas.

B. Project Site
We chose the Brgy. Sambal Ilaya, Lemery, Batangas as the place to
conduct the project because aside from it is near in our university, we noticed
that some of the places there needs some improvement that we can provide.
As it is one of the biggest parts of Lemery, we want to help them by
repainting the place.

C. Type of project
We conducted a project by means of doing community service, which
we paint their basketball court benches for them to use it on their different
events. It is also done with graaet cooperation and determination both of the
proponents and the beneficiaries.

D. Beneficiaries
The beneficiaries of our project are the residents of Brgy. Sambal Ilaya,
Lemery Batangas for them to use and seat comfortably to their benches not
only for watching basketball but also for different activities that they will
perform on that area. They would also be refreshed and it also gives positive
vibe because they can seat in a rusty-kind of benches.

E. Contact person
The contact person is our NSTP Instructor Ms. Lalaine A. Contreras
amd the brgy. Captain of the project site Mrs. Liezl Arandia.

F. Duration/ Time Frame

We started our project at the 4th day of April 2019 until May 16, 2019.

Project Description

A. Rationale

Sambal Ilaya is one of the many barangays in the municipality of

Lemery, province of batangas. The recent population in the said barangay
was from the 2015 Cencus which totalled 4, 265, representing the 4.58% of
the total population of Lemery. In history, Sambal Ilaya's population grew
from 2,428 in 1990 to 4,265 in 2015.
Demographically, most of the citizens in the said barangay are from 5 to
9 years old with 505 individuals, while the least group are from 80 and over
with 13 individuals only. In overall, there are 39% (1,424) dependent
indivuduals - infant/babies, children and young adolescents and teenagers
in Sambal Ilaya. Meanwhile, there are 62.26% (2,698) which are
economically active population and actual / potential members of the
workforce. Lastly, 3.35% (143) wre old dependent population consisting of
senior citizens.
During the proponents' visit in the said barangay, they found out that the
place is not well-groomed and organized. The kids are everywhere even at
noon where the sun is really striking straight from above. The assessments
of the proponents are the following:
1. Waste are everywhere
2. People are disorganized
3. Houses are not well-built
4. The ambiance and the smell is not good for the citizens' , especially kids'
health

During the visit, the proponents also found out that kids love to play at
their basketball court and that the place is too boring and pale. To bring out
the barangay's color, the proponents chose Street Painting as their project
in order to atleast keep the barangay's shine despite the many bad things
about them.

B. Objectives
The proponents' project named Street Painting has the objective of:
1. To help the kids in bringing out the best in playing at the basketball court.
2. To help the barangay in seeing the cleanliness and being simple of their
place.
3. To reach out for teens in doing such project to make their barangay better
4. To keep the tidiness and positive ambiance of the place

Project Management

A. Management Viability

a. Organizational Structure

b. Services and Assistance Offered

The students offered services through painting of the benches of

Brgy. Sambal Ilaya, Lemery, Batangas. It is the project wherein it
aims to beautify the aforementioned place. Court painting is one of
the project of the barangay but because we planned to do the
painting project, they gave us the chance as they treat it as an
opportunity to do other project. Through this service offered, the
community may focused on other projects that would help the place
more peaceful, clean and attractive.

c. Implementation Schedule

Plan No. of hours

Preparing of Materials, Meeting 3 hours
with the Brgy. Captain
1st day of painting 3 hours
2nd of painting 3 hours
3rd day of painting 3 hours
4th day of painting 3 hours
Last day of painting 4 hours

B. Social Viability

Painting – Putting colors means giving life to a place. Some of the places in
Brgy. Sambal Ilaya needs an urgent improvement as it is covered with rust
so it looks dirty and dull. Due to the location because it is near the sea, it
would be hard for the barangay to sustain the color of the place. As the
barangay is one of the biggest place in the Lemery, it would be hard for the
people to prioritize some of the places. The students gathered and planned
to paint the court of the barangay to sustain the colors. We used high quality
of paints and we secure that every corner was painted. We also used sand
paper to remove the rusts to make it more beautiful.

Financial Requirement and Sources

A. Sources of fund

The fund will be used to buy the needed materials in the project being
proposed. Each member of the group contributed 260 pesos. The total
amount of money collected was P3912 and the project total expenses in
conducting the activity which is painting benches in Sambal Ilaya was
P3900.

B. Program of expenditures

This represents the expenses of the students in conducting the said

activity/program. The students buy paints, paint brush, thinner and other
materials which cost P2860. The said materials were used in painting those
benches in the said barangay. Foods were also included in the students’
expenses. The students buy breads, water, ice and etc. this were significant
expenses since the temperature in Sambal Ilaya was high. P450 were the
money spent in buying foods. For the notary and print which is needed
because it belong to the requirements the students need to comply which

Assessment of the Project

A. Findings

It has been found that the benches in the court of Sambal Ilaya, Lemery,
Batangas located near the sea area was all rusty and badly needed to be
repainted. There are four benches there but only three benches can be
useful because the other bench is so rusty, defective and ruined. The rust
from the benches may be caused by the direct sunlight and rain, because
the court there isn't covered. By that, the students from BSMA-1201 of
Batangas State University-Lemery Campus conduct a project of repainting
the three useful benches to help the residents so that they can sit
comfortably without worrying. It is also observed that every part of the
benches are really rusty so the students paint every part of the benches
properly. The color used in painting the benches is royal blue. After the
project conducted by the students, the benches look colorful and very
useful that adds beauty to the court.

On the other hand, after the students completed and achieved to

repaint the benches in Sambal Ilaya, Lemery, Batangas different
recommendations are drawn and suggested in order to enhance and
upgrade more the benches and the court of the barangay.

B. Conclusion
Based on the findings regarding the students’ project in NSTP which is
painting the benches in Sambal Ilaya, Lemery, Batangas thus the
conclusions were drawn. It shows that the students from BSMA 1201 are
very hardworking and dedicated when it comes to finishing the assigned
task given to them because even though the climate is very hot and the
court where they repaint the benches is not cover but they still able to finish
the project with joy and happiness crept on their lips.
The students able to finish painting the three big benches in Sambal
Ilaya, Lemery, Batangas located near at the sea area and make these
colourful and useful for the residents of the said community. It also add
more beauty to the court, it just needed to be maintained and look after by
the people and the barangay official to prolong its color.
C. Recommendations

1. The barangay must conduct a fund raising campaign to make the court of
the Sambal Ilaya fully covered to protect the bench from rusting and direct
to rain and too much sunlight.
2. The barangay needs to monitor the conditions of the bench for them to
repaint it again to make them free from rust.
3. The beauty of the court will be evident if the surroundings are cleaned
and well painted.
4. The barangay must do counselling and seminars in accordance to proper
waste segragation.
5. The paints to be used whenever they want to repain the cout must be
eco- friendly and they must tried to plant some trees near the area .

Personal Reflections of the Participants
Jake Albufera

During our NSTP (National Service Training Program) I learned to serve to our
community and it would be fun if we do it together with my schoolmates. Our
project is painting benches of uncovered basketball court of Brgy. Sambal Ilaya,
Lemery, Batangas. It was hard to paint the benches because the sun and the beam
is too hot while painting the benches but we still continue paint the benches under
the heat of the sun. When i see the benches are near to finish im so happy
beacause im part of this project and this is a good experience because we help the
community in a simple way. This activity gives me the initiative to help other people
and to help our community to improve the barangay we served. Giving service is
not that bad at all but It gaves us more strength because I’ve finally figured out that
it is better to help than being the one who needs help.

Hecille Atienza

During our NSTP class, our class were grouped into two, to propose and do a
certain project at our chosen barangay. Our group chose street painting as our
project at Sambal Ilaya Lemery, Batangas. The day of our first tour in the place,
April 4,2019, we were really excited because it is our first time in the place. Going
into the place, we rode tricycle together with our groupmates and arriving there
seeing that the place isn't really good, the smell is unbearable and it is really hot in
the place. We arrived at their basketball court and prepared our materials to be
able to start the project. At our first day, we used sandpaper to smoothen the steel
of the benches within the court.

We only had 3 meetings in Sambal Ilaya because of the events, semi-final

exams and holidays, but within that 3 meetings, we managed to paint all those 3
benches in the basketball court of the said place.

Our project on the place was tiring, for real! yet enjoying because it's my first
time doing this kind of project. Despite the heat, nothing beats our desire to help for
the place.
Our section was grouped into two qroups during our NSTP class to propose and do
some project at our chosen barangay. As our project at Sambal Ilaya Lemery,
Batangas, our group chose to paint the benches. We were really excited on the
day of our first tour at the site, April 4, 2019, because it is our first time at the site.

Going into the place, we rode tricycle together with our groupmates and
arriving there seeing that the place isn't really good, we cannot handle the smell of
the place and it is really hot in the place. We arrived at their basketball court and
prepared our materials to be able to start the project. We used sandpaper to be
able to remove the rusts covering the steel. Because of many celebrations,
holidays and examinations we only attended 3 meetings there in sambal ilaya. Our
project on the site was tiring seriously! yet enjoying because it's my first time doing
this kind of activity together with my friends. Despite the extreme heat, nothing
stops our desire to help the Barangay.

National Service Training Program (NSTP) is a required course mandated by

law which is a preparation and opportunity to improve ourselves to serve others
and gives the chance to be socially involved and have deeper awareness of
ourselves in relation to others.
At first, I thought that NSTP was just an extra baggage in our curriculum for
which students were required to attend but I was wrong, I've learned many things
from NSTP and it served as an eye-opener not just for me but also for the majority
of my fellow school mates. I realize that there are a lot of things to be happy and
thankful about. Our project is painting of benches of uncovered basketball court of
the Barangay Wawa, Ibaba Lemery, Batangas. Even though it was a simple task,
it made me feel happy to be able to help in their community. It was a very fulfilling
experience knowing that you had done something for other people. I would say
that the most difficult part of my work was when the sun was up and really hot and
we still had to paint under the heat. On the other hand, it was satisfying seeing our
finished work because it shows that we made it together as a team, and we
finished it for the sake of the people living in the community, we did it for the
betterment of the barangay.
Having an exposure was truly a tiring task, however the feeling of happiness,
fulfillment and achievement after that exposure was unexplainable, especially,
when we see the smiling faces of people in the community we have been served in
to, depicting that they are very happy with what we've done makes me feel so
proud that as a student, I've able to help them and makes them happy even in a
simple way.
Kathlyn Canela

It was our first day activity in NSTP we go in our site where we will condoct our
activity together with our NSTP instructor in Sambal Ilaya, Lemery Batangas.
Actually I was shocked at first cause its so hot and theres no cover in that area only
the stage itself. But despite of too much heat we felt coming from the sun we are
excited to start and paint the bench. We are grouped to paint the three benches
there at Sambal Ilaya, Lemery, Batangas. Each group have two membes one who
will handle the umbrella, another one who will paint and reverse. In addition
theres stinky smells coming from the dead fish in the ocean and blowing strong
winds that been a hurdle in painting the bench . But despite of it we still paint and
paint and do our best to finish it as early as we can. So that we can do another
project.

It was our second day activity in NSTP . We bought another royal blue clolor of
paint that we will use in painting and brushes as well . After buying materials . We
went at school and wait for our instructor Ms Lalaine and then went to the site.
When we arrived we rest a little then we continued painting the bench we left last
meeting. Again the heat is so hot . But it will not be a hurdle anymore cause we
are now prepared than last time. And now we finished painting the two benches.
After finishing we rest and clean up to prepare and arrange the materials so that
we can already go in school and have an attendance and go home.

It was our third day activity in NSTP. Actually we cant do another project but
only to finish the other one bench we left last time. Its because of a lot of activity
that has been held in school last time so that our NSTP time has been resched and
postpone as well thats why we onlyhave three days doing NSTP activity. At this
point we finished painting all the benches there. After finishing we went back to
school to have an attendance and then go home.

I dont think it could be consider as a fourth day of NSTP activity but we group
one , went to another site where the other grouped are doing their activity . It is to
help them finishing their activity. It is painting as well. Though its not ordinarily the
time of NSTP we went there to help finishing what they have started so that it
would be good and great for the barangay. Cause we are so ashame if we will left
it behind when its not finished yet.

National Training Program (NSTP) is a requirement that is mandated by law to

complete our course. Through this activity I've learned a lot of things that could
help me to improve mself such as to socialize and communicate with others
especially to be responsible enough. Our project is to paint the benches in
uncovered basketball court. Others might think or say it is an easy task but no it
was not . Especially when you are painting while having an exposure in too much
heat coming from the sun, smelling a stinky smells while blowing the strong wind.
But despite of this hurdle we are able to made it at last. We still capable finished
and accomplished our task on time. Im proud of myself cause even in a simple
way , i able to help our community/ environment .

Belle Angela De Villa

As a first year college student of Batangas State University in Lemery Campus,

NSTP is a new thing for me and I didn't expect that it will help me to develop myself
even more. Because of this subject course I come up with some realizations. First
is while we are performing our outside activity, it helps me to enjoy and appreciate
every simple things that we have. Second is, it give us time to be with each other
and enjoy the company of each of us that helps us to do the task easier. Lastly it
proves us that no matter how hard the task is, if the team builds unity the task will
finish in a given time or even in a short time. I am very grateful to experience such
things and to be with my groupmates, without my groupmates I won't be able to
experience those simple yet unforgettable moments that I've shared with them
during those times. Thank you for being part of this project, especially to our very
responsible and considerate group leader Ms. Krisha Mae Enriquez for being such
a good leader for our team.

Aira Duhaylungsod

NSTP or National Service Training Program is one of our subject in second

semester. In this subject we propose a project entitled "street painting " , i am
curious what the students always do in everytime the students going outside the
campus. What the emotions they feel every NSTP subject? Are they happy or not?

In my experience, in the first day of our NSTP i am excited to go outside

because it was my first time to go in one place and do a project with friends. And
our project is about painting so I'm getting more excited because it was my first
time to paint even though the place that we choose is not covered and and our time
for the project is 12:00 - 3:00 pm we feel the heat like we are burning under the sun.
We bring some protection against the sun to prevent sickness. I am happy that we
can help the residence of Sambal Ilaya Lemery Batangas to make beautiful their
court. We paint the benches in the court to make the resident sit comfortably.
And i feel bad too because when we go to sambal ilaya, there's no even one
barangay officials welcoming us and they don't even visit us on the place when we
doing our project. But, i feel great because in this project i have good time with my
friends and classmate. In everytime we do our project, we also talk about
something that are interesting and have a sense and sometime about in school.
Doing a project with a group of friends it make it easy and the project can make it
fast and done sooner.

Krisha Mae Enriquez

Community service is different if we do it with all our heart. By means of

painting some of the parts of Brgy. Sambal Ilaya, Lemery, Batangas it greatly helps
the community for it gives hope, cleanliness and positive ambiance. It is not that
hard to do the project if you see all the members helping, cooperating to achieve
the goals of the group. Everyone felt the hardships but everyone stays positive
until the end of the day. The most important is that in simple ways we can help a
community.I learned that this kind of activity helps me to relieve stress and at the
same time Ive been able to help the community eventhough that we are still
student.

This Civic Welfare Program helps both the proponents and the people we
served. Everyone was given a chance to help a community and that time, we didnt
waste it. We are making ourselves busy to help or to give services to the people.
This project 'Street Painting' helps me to be more helpful and to be more a
service-oriented individual.

Noreen Holgado

As of the beginning of our project proposal in nstp, it is not that easy

beacause we need to comply several requirements in order to approve our activity.
We spend lots of time, effort, hardships and specially finances just to complete
those requirements. Each one of us become busy and get tired because of it.
After we get the approval, we prepare all the materials needed in the project .
We provide paint brushes, paints, thinner and containers. We began painting the
benches of the court on the first day and yet we continue to finish it until our last
day of the activity.
Upon doing the activity, each of us are happy doing that painting. We're
laughing all throughout the activity hour, we're sharing thoughts, jokes even if its
hot outside . No one is complaining upon doing the activity, thus everyone are
laughing and happy while painting even if the sunlight was directed to our skin .
We build teamwork despite our different attitudes. And with that teamwork we
finish our project all by our heart and we successfully repaint all the benches at
barangay Sambal Ilaya, Lemery, Batangas.

Maynard Van Lascuña

I've learned many things from NSTP and it served as a tool to develop
ourselves to the awareness of others and socially involved. I realize that there are
a lot of things to be happy and thankful about. Our project is painting of benches in
the Barangay Sambal, Ibaba Lemery, Batangas. It was a great experience
knowing that you had done something for other people. I would say that the most
difficult part of my work was when the sun was up and really hot and we still had to
paint under the heat. On the other hand, it was satisfying seeing our finished work
because it shows that we made it together as a team, and we finished it for the
sake of the people living in the community, we did it for the betterness of the
barangay.

On the exposure I would say it was a very fullfilling seeing those works we've
done. NSTP thought me what is the true service of community is. Service is seeing
your people happy with contentment in their face😊 By doing a community service.

Jayven Marasigan

As a a college student it was a big deal to add a course to my curriculum

which my first impression to the course is so annoying and only a waste of time to
us but after we finish our project i knew tha NSTP is one of the very most course
that a student must acquire because it help the community in a very special way.

There are circumstances we encounter how hard to do our proposal there

were times we are very wet not because of exercise but because of the sun's beam
directly touches our skin, also the feeling that we're loosing our energy and the
financial problems because our proposal is expensive and lastly but what we first
encounter is the paper works which is time consuming. Despite to this kinds of
situation there is a positive things happened like the collaboration of every groups
and the pleasant and thankful smile of every person in the community. Even
though it is hard to finish our proposal we did our best to accomplished that. We do
a lot of sacrifices to finish it because we do that activity not for the grade we will be
accepted but because that project will be beneficial to everyone in the community.
And now i realized that if you can help anyone, help as you can. Help from the
bottom of your heart and in the God's will you will blessed.

Rosemarie Mendoza

Being a college student we are required to enroll our NSTP (National Service
Training Progam) subject as part of our first and second semester. We planned to
conduct community service program through painting the basketball court
benches at brgy. Sambal ilaya, Lemery, Batangas.

On the first day of our program we buy all the needed materials such as paint,
brushes, thinner, and sandpaper. When we arrived at the location we started to rub
the benches through sandpaper, and after that we started to paint the benches.
The whole three hours that we spent in painting we finished half of one bench and
we continued it the next NSTP schedule until we finished the 3 benches there.

On the whole semester that we conducted our project is not that easy, because
tiredness is not the only thing we deal with but also the too much heat from sunlight
that can burn our skin and as well as the stain of paint in our hands and clothes.
But after we finished the project I feel happy not only because of the grade that
we possibly get, but because we provided some help on their barangay.
Aurea Pelagio

At first, I thought it would be boring doing such thing like painting the benches
but I was wrong. It was a great experience because even though heat passing
through our skin was too much, we finish it on time with a smile crept on our lips.

I didn't expect we will finish the project that early because I thought it will be
hard for us to paint those benches in sambal ilaya. In the first day until the last, our
group were divided into three with the guidance and help of our subject teacher
ma'am lalaine contreras. We did the task assigned to us. I notice that our group are
really united because even though it's hot they were able to talked and some of us
throw some jokes to the point that we didn't notice that we nearly finish it.

Charlene Usi

Being part of the project in NSTP which is painting the benches on Sambal
Ilaya, Lemery, Batangas wasn't easy because we suffer from a strong heat coming
from the sunlight that directly hits our bare skin. At first, we thought that this project
would be very hard beacause the time of our activity was started at 12pm and lasts
until 3pm that we know was very hot. To add more, the court were we will paint the
benches doesn't have a cover. But when we already start painting, we just enjoy it
and the company of our classmates. Because of that we didn't feel so much
pressure and tiredness instead we feel joy and happiness because we finish our
task properly. It just indicates that our group has a unity that every one of us
contributed to the success of our project.

Narrative Report

It was April 2 of 2019 where the project ‘Street Painting’ has begun. If you will
look to the surroundings, it looks dull and the smell is not that good because of their
livelihood which is dried fish. At first, we thought it would be so hard to accomplish
the task because of the weather. Our NSTP time is 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm, the
beam of the sun is too hot. We started the project as soon as we arrived in the
venue. We decided to divide the group into 4 and start to paint the 3 big benches of
Brgy. Sambal Ilaya, Lemery, Batangas. Everyone is busy using sand papers to
remove the rusts in the benches. Due to its volume and the steaming heat of the
sun, the students allotted longer hours of what they expected. Thus the first day of
painting has been only removing the rust.

There’s no difference of what happened to the second meeting. They continue

to remove the rust but it only took an hour to finish it. The boys started mixing the
thinner and paint. The divided groups go to their respective places to start the
project. They paint every corner of the benches. They didn’t waste any minute to
accomplish the task. In the middle of painting, our Instructor decided to prioritize
the two big benches. So the students who were painting the last bench transferred.
Even though we have high number of student, still we unable to finish the two
benches, We decide to continue it the next meeting.

The 3rd day of the project is not that new. Everyone started painting as soon
that we arrived on time. We mixed again and started painting the benches. We
continue until we finish the 2 benches that we prioritized. We do some finishing
touches and see if there are corners that have not been painted.

May 9, 2019 is the last day of the project. We united ourselves to finish the last
bench of the court. We started at the top until the bottom part. It wasn’t that hard
because everyone is helping and cooperating to finish the project. Even though
you will see frowned and tired faces, they still continue to motivate each other.
They make funny jokes to feel good amidst what they’re feeling.

Above all, everyone is thankful for they have given a chance to give service
to a community. It is a wonderful experience and achievement because we helped
a community out of cooperation even in a simple way we can do.
