EDUCATION
Education is the act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, developing
the powers of reasoning and judgement, and generally of preparing oneself or others
intellectually for mature life.
If we remember, our ESP teacher taught us that "Ang pamilya ang ating unang kapwa" means
family members are the first persons who we had socialize with and as we considered school as
our second home, the primary function of educational institution is the socialization of children
and the new members of the society. Education also have numerous aspects to the socialization
process that prepares the youth for a significant life in the society.

EDUCATION IN THE PHILIPPINES

Education in the Philippines is managed and regulated by the Department of Education
or also known as DepEd. They are the one who control the education system including the
creation and implementation of the curriculum and the utilization of funds alloted by the
government. They also mandated the 200-day school calender and also the schedule of the first
day of school which usually starts in the first week of June.
Before the Philippines attained independence in 1946, the education system was
already patterned. From 1945 to 2011, our country regulated with basic education system with
six years of elementary and dour years of high school education. After that, we started to have
a K to 12 educational system.
Furthermore, Spain and United States brought educational practices as they governed
us for more than three hundred years. During Spanish time, religion was the core curriculum
and the schools were also chapels at the same time, it is called "visitas". Children learned to
read alphabet, syllabic method, sacred songs and soon. However, only upper classes can study
at higher education. Meanwhile, when Americans came, education was focused on the
development of new social patterns that has the goal to prepare the nation for self-governing
democracy. In this time, private schools were born. Unlike in Spanish time, Americans taught
Filipinos English, arithmetic, geography and character training for primary level thus grammar
and social studies for intermediate level.

6 Provisions
1-It is important and necessary to take care for the country's scope in the field of education
and continuously do something and make plans to give the society the knowledge that they
deserve and to make the economy propagate.
2-It is important and necessary also for the country that the support for the education would
come from the country so state itself , because it will make the students more encouraged and
motivated to study because the state itself will give the right supplement for the needs of the
students and this is right and just to be obtained.
3-It is the responsibility of a particular country to give its students or citizens the knowledge
that is why we have the free education system because not everyone has the ability of
sustaining the finances in terms of matriculation. Also, they should not limit the rights of the
parents to their children as long as it will not affect the children badly.
4-The state should help the students to supplement the needs of the students especially the
finances. For example, scholarship grants , student loan programs incentives and many more
should be given to the students that deserve all of these whether they belong to public or
private school. It will be a great help for the students and for their family.
5-This is actually a good idea because not just because you enter the school meaning you will
just learn academically but also the school should teach you the right attitude and other good
things that correspond to the society itself.
6-Giving them these kinds of educations would be very beneficial because this will enhance
their skills. And also for the adults and disables they also deserve the happiness that will come
from their leisure.
