1. AKAPULKO (ACAPULCO)
 Scientific Name: Cassia alata
 Part of Plant w/ Medicinal property: Leaves
 Indication: Treats tinea infections, insect bites,
ringworms, eczema, scabies, and itchiness.
 Prep: Pagkatas, decoction – extracting the
essence of something by heating/boiling.
 Way of Using: Place on affected part, use it 1-2
times a day.

4. BAYABAS (GUAVA)
 Scientific Name: Psidium guajava
 Part of Plant w/ Medicinal property: fruit, bark,
leaves.
 Indication: Used as antiseptic, anti-
inflammatory, anti-spasmodic, antioxidant,
hepatoprotection, anti-allergy, antimicrobial,
anti-plasmodial, antidiabetic, antigenotoxic.
 Way of Using: For wounds – Ipanghugas ang

studied for anti-cancer properties.
 Prep: Decoction, tea.
 Way of Using: Drink 1/3 of glass of
decoction/tea, 3x a day, 30 mins before eating.

5. LAGUNDI
 Scientific Name: Vitex negundo
 Part of Plant w/ Medicinal property: Leaves,
roots, flowers, seeds.
 Indication: Used to treat coughs, colds, and
fever, relief asthma and pharyngitis,
rheumatism, dyspepsia, boils, and diarrhea.
 Prep: Decoction, syrup, granules, tea.
 Way of Using: Ages 7-12 – 2 tsp. 3x a day.
Older: 2 tablespoons, 3x a day.
3. BAWANG (GARLIC)
 Scientific Name: Allium sativum
 Part of Plant w/ Medicinal property: Leaves,
bulbs, cloves.
 Indication: Infection antibacterial, anti-
inflammatory, anti-cancer, and anti-
hypertensive properties. Reduce cholesterol
level in blood.
 Prep: Sautee, grill, boil for 5 mins.
6. NIYOG-NIYOGAN
 Scientific Name: Quisqualis indica L.
 Part of Plant w/ Medicinal property: Seeds,
roots, fruit.
 Indication: Used to eliminate intestinal
parasites.
 Prep: Use parent seed, dry seed, or freshly
opened flowers.
 Way of Using: Eat seeds 2 hrs after dinner. If
ineffective in the 1st use, do it again after 1
week. 9. ULASIMANG BATO (PANSIT-PANSITAN)
 Scientific Name: Peperomia pellucida Lim.
 Part of Plant w/ Medicinal property: Leaves,
stem (heart-shaped leaves).
 Indication: Effective in treating arthritis and
gout, brings down uric acid.
 Prep: Salad
 Way of Using: Pwedeng kainin sa umaga,
hapon, o gabi.

7. SAMBONG (NGAI CAMPHOR/BLUMEA


CAMPHOR)
 Scientific Name: Blumea basamifera
 Part of Plant w/ Medicinal property: roots,
leaves
 Indication: Used to treat kidney stones,
wounds, cuts, rheumatism, anti-diarrhea, anti-
spasms, colds, and coughs, and hypertension.
 Prep: Decoction, granules, or tea.
 Way of Using: Drink 3x a day. 10. YERBA BUENA (PEPPERMINT)
 Scientific Name: Clinopodium douglasii
 Part of Plant w/ Medicinal property: Leaves
 Indication: Used as analgesic to relieve body
aches and pain due to rheumatism and gout.
Used to treat coughs, colds and insect bites.
 Prep: Decoction, tea.
 Way of Using: Toothache – 2 spoons chopped
leaves (dry or fresh), may be used as tea.

8. TSAANG GUBAT (WILD TEA)


 Scientific Name: Ehretia microphylla Lam.
 Part of Plant w/ Medicinal property: Leaves
 Indication: Taken as tea to treat skin allergies
including eczema, scabies, and itchiness wounds
in child birth.
