I.GENERAL INFORMATION:
II.RATIONALE:
The Usapan Module developed by Luzon Health is an innovation from Usapan modules
developed over the years by various development projects and this new module is geared towards
increasing client acceptance of Family Planning through the use of the modern FP methods. Usapan
is a demand-generation activity that directly links provision of FP information and counselling to FP
service delivery and/or referral. It utilizes counselling not as a discrete activity but part of the
continuum from providing information and counselling (demand) that will lead to the use of Family
Planning methods (services) supported by available commodities and referral networks (policy).
Through the use of simple, structured participatory exercises, the New Usapan aims to provide
simple and emotionally appealing information to 15 clients per session and help them choose a
particular method according to his/her reproductive intention.
The Usapan module consists of 5 categories that are dependent on the reproductive need of
the clients. These are: Usapang Pwede Pa, Usapang Kontento Na, Usapang Bagong Maginoo,
Usapang Buntis 1 and 2 and Batang Ina/Batang Ama (BIBA) module. Each of the sessions shall
involve 10 potential FP/MCH clients, at least 2 health service providers trained on FPCBT Level 1,
temporary FP commodities that should be made available and ready for actual use or dispensing at
the Usapan venue and scheduling/making of referrals for the provision of BTL and/or NSV services.
As such, the need to orient and train the participants in the conduct of the different Usapan
Sessions for implementation in their respective areas of assignment is essential. They will be
trained during the said event and Practicum sites will be in identified barangays and RHUs of Tabuk
