The School ICT support course provided me with the opportunities to acquire skills
and attitudes that are essential in the real-world situation. The knowledge I acquired
in this course will help me to be able to integrate technology in teaching and learning.

In this course I had learned how to curate information from existing information like
blogs, social media posts, videos and eBooks which are relevant to your chosen topic.
This process makes lesson preparation very beneficial because it is easily to find
appropriate content. Where by you can filter through to find the most accurate
information and sharing them with the learners. It also helps to deepen understanding
of the chosen content and get new insight about the topic and find more examples that
I can use when explain the content to the learners.

I’ve learned to integrate different online tools such kahoot, Socrative, Todaysmeet to
teaching and learning makes learning more fun and enjoyable while learners are
learning something using some of the online games gives a feedback in terms of the
learner’s level of understanding of the content.

Designing a website using different html application helped me to acquire skills that I
can use to help the learners with their practical assessment ask on their final stage
whereby they have to design a webpage to present their work.
I have learned different skills to design an effective PowerPoint presentation and use
pictures to make a slideshow and insert a sound. The presentation skills help me to
create effective PowerPoint that aids my lesson during work integrated learning
whereby I can use animations, transitions, pictures, videos and graphs etc as a
teaching aid for learners to understand the lesson and make sense of the content by
looking at the pictures and videos. Effective PowerPoint presentation aid learning and
make more fun and enjoyable. I had also learned the use of google docs to create
different assessment and activities for the learners.

Designing of the South African SAMS (School Administration Management System)

as our exam project helped to understand the work that is being done in the admin
office. I also learned that they use a software suite comprising a base software
application (computer program) and separate software modules so that they separate
applications in their day-to-day running, e.g. separate Administration Systems for
Learners, Curriculum-related Data, Finances, Timetabling, the Library, etc. and heaps
of manually prepared reports and lists. With the information I have and the
understanding of how SAMS works I will be able to assists and play a role as an ICT
support in the school.

Lesson planning and caps content test helped me to deepen my understanding the
computer application technology content and be familiar with it so that it will be easier
present it to the learners.

I don’t see myself as an ICT specialist yet being a specialist meaning that I must be
an expert in designing, maintain and service systems that are used to save, retrieve
and send data. I am a long life learner in the ICT field, which is an ongoing
improvement in the field.
