Purpose

A. This procedure provides guideline for execution leaking at the pipe section near
to its reinforcement pad.

B. The welding connection in accordance with client’s requirement..The welding


works sequence shall approved by client.

C. This procedure is only relevant to Stainless Steel (P-No. 8 material)

2 Scope

The welding repair using by grinding stainless steel specification and used by GTAW
welding process at

7 Preparation of work

a. Submit Welding Inspection Control Sheet (WICS) together with WPS,WQT &
Specific Repair Procedure to PRPC UF for review and approval.Welding work shall
be performed as per approved WPS by qualified welder and shall be monitored by
supervisor (before, during and after).

b. Prior to start work, all required permit shall be applied and all piping/line that
connect to the equipment shall be suitably blank-off, isolated by spades, reverse
spectacle blind,ventilation and etc

c. The equipment to be inspected should be cleaned to remove any dirt, grease, oil
etc.

d. CLIENT representative shall identify any abnormalities will conduct a visual


inspection and mark the area to be repaired.

e. Grinding Disc / wire brush must be a suitable type to the material of equipment
repair.( segregation on storage of stainless steel wire brush and disc )

f. CLIENT representative shall be notified to conduct visual inspections in order to


identify the defect is satisfactory removed up to standard requirement.

g. All repair activities see attachment for reference.


h. 1st Stage - Make a bevel in the leaking area using by power tool

i. 2nd Stage - Cleanness weld area to remove dust or etc

j. 3rd Stage - weld up to 3mm or 2 layers and apply the DPI on the weld surface to
ensure there is no defect on the weld surface and continue welding up to 6mm or
3 layer for completed weld.

k. After welding completed apply the DPI for The welded surface shall be dressed
smoothly by grinding. CLIENT representative shall witness and review MPT/DPT
activity to confirm that there are no other defects present at equipment repaired.

8 Safety

a. All condition must comply with Permit to Work (PTW).


b. All conditions stated in the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) must be followed.
c. All personnel working on the job site shall be informed of the safety awareness
by attending the safety induction conducted by client representative prior to
commencing work.
d. Full PPE and fire watcher is required to ensure personnel safety whilst working at
site.

a. Visual inspection and evaluation shall be as UW-42 or UW-38 (ASME Section VIII,
Div.
b. Dye Penetration Testing Appendix 8. (ASME Section VIII, Div.)
