Using Edulastic to deliver ILEARN Practice Writing Prompts

Create your TEACHER Account

Open your Chrome Browser and go to ​https://app.edulastic.com​ and create a free Edulastic Teacher account
using your SCHOOL Google account.

Be sure to Sign up as a ​Teacher​…

Enter the ZIP code ​46143​ in the search field and then scroll down to select your building from the list. All 4 of
our elementary buildings are available. This will also tie you to our District.

Once you have selected your building, click on the Proceed button to continue. On the next
screen, choose your ​subject ​and ​grade​. ​Since you can only select one subject, just use ELA.
Create a CLASS

Click on the button in the upper right corner of the main dashboard screen. On the following

screen, click on the button.

NOTE​: Do ​NOT ​sync this class with Google Classroom!

Enter a ​Class Name​, ​Grade​, and select ​ELA​ as the ​subject​. You may add a Class Image if you like.

The class name must follow this naming method:


ILEARN Writing Prompt Practice Building Code LastName Grade
Ex: ILEARN Writing Prompt Practice IC Held 3

Click on ​Save Class​ when you have finished entering your information.

When you finish creating your class, a ​CODE ​will be generated. Please make a note of this code so your
students can auto-enroll when they create their student accounts. If you forget the class code, you can always
click on the ​Manage Class​ icon at the bottom of the navigation panel and view the class code.
Locate the Prompt
You will receive notification from the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment or the Technology
Integration Specialist when the pre-formatted Grade Level Writing Prompt Assessment will be available to
assign to students. You will need the ​assessment-specific link​ in order to access the assessment.

Click on the ​Dashboard i​ con in the Navigation panel.

COPY​ (Ctrl+C) the assessment specific link for your Grade level (below) and then ​PASTE​ (Ctrl+V) it in the
BROWSER a ​ ddress line​ located ABOVE the Edulastic Site - do not use the Search tool in the Edulastic
Library or other site internal search areas. Tap the ENTER button on your keyboard to search for the
Assessment.

Assessment links
Assign the Prompt to your class

The Assessment will display on the screen. Assign the assessment to your class by clicking on the
Assign​ Button underneath the writing prompt image.

Enter the ​Open ​and ​Close Dates ​(2nd 9 weeks window is 12 November to 30 November 2018)​ and
then click on the check box to the left of your newly created class. Leave the Open/Close Policy
values to the default (Automatically) and click on the green ​‘Assign’ ​button at the top right of the
screen.
Create STUDENT Accounts

Have your students open a Chrome Browser and go to ​https://app.edulastic.com​ and create a free Edulastic
Student account using their SCHOOL Google account.

Be sure the kiddos sign up as ​Students​…

Join a CLASS

Students will click on the button in the upper right corner of the main dashboard screen.

From the ​Manage Class​ screen, they will type in the class code (which you provide) and then click on the ​Join
Class​ button.

The students should now be able to see the writing prompts (active assessments) that you assigned to your
class on their Dashboard. .
Active Assessments

The assignment entry will have a button on the right-hand side of the screen. Students
simply click on the button to start.

Once the assessment is completed, students click on the button at the top of the assessment
screen. If there are any items to review, students can do so prior to the final submission. Once students have
submitted the assessment, they cannot make changes.
