1. Go to https://a1.growingstars.com/ OR https://r1.growingstars.com/
2. Type in the username, password, and click on ‘Log in’.
3. Point your mouse to the file/textbook/folder name you see there, click on the three
dots icon at the right of it, and then click ‘Download’.
4. File will be downloaded to the Downloads folder.
Note: To copy content from PDF files, other than Lightshot, the Snapshot tool in
Adobe Reader can also be used. The Snapshot tool can copy one full PDF page at a time.
Select the required area using Snapshot tool, click ‘Ok’ and do the steps from 4 to 6 given
above to paste it.
1. After logging-in into the Teacher Dashboard, click ‘Tools->Lesson Tool’, then
maximise the screen.
2. Select ‘Grade’, ‘Subject’, ‘Topic’ and ‘Level’ from the respective dropdowns. (If the
‘Topic’ dropdown is blank, you have to select a different ‘Grade’. Then select the
‘Subject’ and the ‘Topic’ from the dropdowns).
3. Wait for a few seconds. Then click on the dropdown next to ‘Lessons’ and select
‘AddANewLesson’. Type in a Lesson ID and click ‘OK’.
A Lesson ID can have only alphabets, numbers, and the _ (underscore) symbol. No
blank space is permitted. The Lesson ID should follow the format:
‘ChapterName_Keyword_Part#’ where ‘ChapterName’ denotes the name of the
chapter/topic, ‘Keyword’ denotes the initials of the tutor’s name, and ‘Part#’ denotes
the part number of the lesson, for eg, if multiple lessons are to be created, give 1, 2,
etc. Eg: SurfaceArea_LB_1.
4. Prepare the lesson in Microsoft Word or any other word processor. Then copy and
paste the content part by part from the document onto the Lesson Tool as mentioned
in Section II. (You can also directly type in/write the lesson content in the Lesson
Tool using Editable Text, Non Editable Text/Pencil tools).
5. After preparing the lesson, Click ‘SaveLesson’ and then ‘OK’ when you get the
message: “Successfully saved the lesson”.
6. Click on ‘CopyPath’, a pop comes, click ‘OK’. Open a Notepad file, press ‘Control +
V’ and save it.
7. Click the dropdown next to ‘PrintScreen’ and select ‘SaveScreen’. Select a location
(say Desktop) from the pop-up, type in a filename, and click ‘Save’.

1. After logging-in into the Lesson Tool, open the lesson to be assigned (Select ‘Grade’,
‘Subject’, ‘Topic’, ‘Level’, & ‘Lesson ID’ from the dropdowns or use ‘SearchLesson’
to find the lesson). You can also select multiple lessons with Control key pressed.
2. Click on the drop-down arrow next to ‘Students’ and select the student’s name.
3. Put checkmark next to ‘Assign as lesson’ or ‘Assign as homework’ or both, then click
‘Assign’.
4. Click ‘OK’ when you get the pop up.
This is done from the Homework Tool, a part of the Lesson Tool itself. The following steps
assume that you have already assigned the homework to the student as per Section IV.
1. After logging-in into the Lesson Tool, click on the drop-down arrow next to ‘Exit’
and select ‘HomeWorkTool’.
2. Click on the drop-down arrow next to ‘Students’ and select the student’s name whose
homework is to be corrected.
3. Click on the drop-down arrow next to ‘Homework...’ and select the homework name.
4. Once the homework is loaded, correct it. Click ‘SaveHomeWork’.
5. Click ‘OK’ when you get the message ‘Successfully saved the homework’.
1. After logging-in into the Teacher Dashboard, get the name of the student from
‘Scheduling->Daily Schedule’. Then get the details of the student from ‘Contact
Details -> Parent Contact Details’.
2. Copy the Skype ID of the student from ‘Special Note’ and add the student to your
Skype. (Please skip this step if the student is already there in your Skype contact list)
3. Click ‘Tools->Select Student for Current Session’. Select the student name from the
‘Select Student’ dropdown. Click ‘Submit’.
4. Click ‘Tools->Classroom Tool’, then maximise the screen. Wait for the student to
login. When the student logs in, you will get audio and visual alerts. Call the student
on Skype.
5. To load the assigned lesson for teaching, follow the steps in Section VIII.
6. To load a corrected homework for review, follow the steps in Section VII.
7. Before erasing the whiteboard completely, remember to save the screen by following
the steps in Section IX.
VII Review the Previous Homework during the class in the Classroom Tool
This is probably done at the beginning of all the sessions except the first one. During the first
session with a student, you would not have any previous homework to review. The following
steps assume that you have already corrected the homework done by the student as per
Section V and that you are in the Classroom Tool with the student.
1. Click on the drop-down arrow next to ‘Homework L...’ and select the homework
name.
2. The homework will be loaded at both ends. You may then discuss the corrections with
the student.

The following steps assume that you are in the Classroom Tool with the student and you have
already assigned the lesson(s) to the student as per Section IV above.
1. Click on the drop-down arrow next to ‘Assigned Le...’ and select the lesson you want
to load.
2. The lesson will load at both ends and you may start your session.
IX SaveScreen
SaveScreen is used to save the contents of the whiteboard to the computer as a JPEG (image)
file. This can be used in the Classroom/Lesson/Homework Tool.
1. After logging-in into the Lesson Tool, click on the drop-down arrow next to ‘Exit’
and select ‘HomeWorkTool’.
2. Click on the drop-down arrow next to ‘Students’ and select the student’s name whose
homework files are to be removed.
3. Click on the drop-down arrow next to ‘HomeworkL...’ and select the homework
name.
4. Once the homework is loaded, click the same drop-down once again and select
‘RemoveHW’.
5. Click ‘OK’ when you get the message ‘Successfully removed the lesson/homework’.
1. After logging-in into the Lesson Tool, click on the drop-down arrow next to
‘Students’ and select the student’s name whose lessons are to be removed.
2. Click ‘OK’ when you get the message ‘Select the lesson to be assigned’.
3. Click on the drop-down arrow next to ‘Assigned L...’ and select the name of the
lesson you want to remove.
4. Once the lesson is loaded, click the same drop-down once again and select
‘RemoveLesson’.
5. Click ‘OK’ when you get the message ‘Successfully removed the lesson/homework’.
1. Click on the ‘Click here to update this case’ link in the mail. If it takes you to the
homepage (www.growingstars.com), click on the ‘Login’ link at the top right and
login with your username and password (If you have more than one tab in your
browser showing the Growing Stars pages, close all those, before clicking on
‘Login’). Then the page to update the case will open up.
2. Add your comments and click ‘Submit’.
