LABORATORY PROJECT
Your task is to design and build an Adjustable DC Dual Power Supply with the
following design requirements:
➢ Input voltage: 230 VAC/50 Hz (Mains Supply)

➢ Voltage range for both outputs: 0-30 VDC (1.25 V – 30 V is also allowed)

➢ Output load current: 1.5 A (Maximum)

The block diagram of the power supply is shown below:

Deeply study the datasheet of every component to come up with a perfect

design.
DELIVERABLES

➢ A complete schematic design in printed format with meaningful symbols of

components used and clearly showing all the component names and values.

➢ A complete PCB (printed circuit board) design in printed format for both
bottom layer silkscreen-top layer (SST). (Registration ID of all group members
should be printed on the PCB).

➢ PCB should be encapsulated in a box (made with any material like metal,
wood or plastic). In case of metal box, care must be taken to prevent any
direct connection of your circuit with metal box (i.e. a short circuit).

➢ The front panel of the casing should have following features:

• Two DC voltmeters with measuring range of 0-30 V
• Connecting terminals to use the device as a voltage source
• One LED that will indicate the AC supply is connected to the device o An
ON/OFF switch to turn ON or OFF the voltage source
• Two potentiometer knobs to adjust the output voltage (one for each output)

➢ A 12 V DC fan should be used to provide the cooling to the circuit to avoid

over-heating of the in case of high load current. (Hint: You will need to design
a separate fixed 12 V DC power supply)
➢ A connecting lead on the back side of casing to connect the AC mains supply.
➢ After turning OFF the input AC supply of the circuit, both output voltages
should go to 0 V in no later than 3 seconds.
➢ The ripple in the output voltages should be minimum.

used along with the component references in the schematic)
• A list of project expenditures
• A short paragraph of what you learnt in the project
• Conclusion
