Instruction in conducting a Needs Assessment:

1. Pre-identify the needs you observe in your department/major that will help improve to your
academic, social, psychological well-being.
2. Decide the number of respondents (must be more than 30). Respondents must be students
from your department/major.
3. Submit your questionnaire before midterm examination for checking.
4. After checking and considering the corrections in your questionnaire, you can proceed to
data gathering.
5. Tabulate and summarized your data for presentation (project for the finals).

Needs Assessment

- A process used by organizations to determine needs, gaps between current conditions and
desired conditions or “wants”.

Characteristics:

- Has a pre-set list of questions to be answered


- Has a predetermined sample of the number and types of people to answer the questions chosen
in advance
- Done by personal interview, phone, or written response (email survey)
- Results are tabulate & summarized (using the statistical tools), discussed (presentation of
result), distributed and used (submit to the Head or Program Coordinator of the Department).
