Chapter 4

Presentation, Analysis and Interpretation of Data

This chapter presents the findings, analysis and interpretation of the

data gathered from the study. The researchers used qualitative observation

in gathering data namely; the duration of the experiment and condition of the

metal. The data is presented in tabular form with corresponding interpretation

Sample B Zinc Plate 4 Weeks Moderately

This table shows the three samples that were included in the

experiment. Sample A is Salt Water which was used to soak metal plate,

Sample B is Tap Water which same as Sample A, is used to soak metal plate

and Sample c is Purified water which was used to soak metal plate. Between

Sample A and Sample B, they both have a similar property which is the
condition of the metal and overall weight of the scraped off rust in a 4 week

time span.

Analysis and Interpretation of Data

This experiment showed that there is a significant difference between

the rusting rate of a zinc plate when soaked among Salt Water, Tap Water and

Purified water in terms of the following properties :

a. Metal Plate and size used – The metal plate that we have used when

soaked in the three different types of water is a Zinc Metal Plate and the

size of it is .

b. Weight of the scraped off rust – The result of the weight of the scraped

off rust from dipping zinc plate to the first sample weights, , The

result of the weight of the scraped off rust from dipping zinc plate to the

second sample weights, and lastly, the result of the weight of the

scraped off rust from dipping zinc plate to the third sample weights, .

The Second sample is the closest to the third sample

c. Duration of the process – The Duration in which was allotted when

testing the rusting rate of zinc plate among the three types of water all

were 4 weeks
d. Condition of the metal - The condition of the metal in the first sample is

that the surface of the metal was mostly covered with rust, the condition

of the metal used when soaked in the second sample is that the surface

of the metal was moderately covered with rust and the condition of the

metal in the third sample is that it was partially covered with rust. The

Second sample has similar conditions of the metal with the third sample.
